Welcome, Phil.Thank you all for your kind welcome. It is great to be here. I will post on my issue in the next couple of days.
Right now, I am dealing with my dog, Moira, who ingested something yesterday that seems to have been somewhat poisonous. She woke me up vomiting, and that continued for about three hours. At one point, a cylindrical object, probably a plant stock or something about the size of the tip of my baby finger, came up. After that, she only vomited twice more. She now appears to be on the mend. No vomiting in the last 90 minutes, and she has taken some water.
I had some medicine from the vet from the last time she gave herself food poisoning when the Pepto-Bismol failed to arrest the vomiting. It appears to have done the trick, but I doubt it would have had I administered it sooner. It seems her body was intent on ejecting that item, whatever it was.
She is a Sheltie, like my first dog, Morag, who appears in my avatar photo. Nevertheless, it was very concerning for me and for her. If she had not turned the corner, it would have meant an expensive weekend visit to the vet. Not much they can do if they don't know what was ingested. You have to wait it out. That is the hard part. Dogs are dogs: they will eat anything. Moira even eats small rocks!
Looking forward to participating here. Thanks again for the warm welcome.
Regards,
Phil
Perhaps take the cylindrical object to the vet. Was it plant based and not possibly some sort of bait? Where I am from, dogs are prone to eating toads, Cane Toads. Even licking them can be quite deadly to a dog if not gotten to in time. These horribly ugly toads can be quite dangerous to humans also. The Cane Toads secrete a toxin and can make you very sick from touching it, kill a small child possibly. But in Australia, everything that moves (or sometimes doesn’t) can kill you and probably eventually will.
