What happens to my cloud data when I cancel my OneDrive subscription?

I have access to 1TB of storage on OneDrive, which is included in my Microsoft 365 subscription.

I no longer need Microsoft 365, but if I cancel my subscription I will lose access to my OneDrive storage except for the small amount included with Windows 11.

What will happen to my data and files on OneDrive if I cancel? Right now I have used about 300GB of my OneDrive storage.

I'd be sure to download them all to your machine. I think you get access to them for a month or so after you cancel. You may be limited though, like you cannot save new files there.

I would download and and save the files to an exteral drive before canceling your Microsoft 365 subscription. I would think that MS will give you a short window of time to save your data before you lose access to it.

I would consider continuing to pay the low subscription price of $69 a year for 1 Terabyte of OneDrive storage!

Been there done that. I let my subscription expire because I had access to the 365 Office suite via my school. When my subscription my Personal OneDrive account dropped from 1TB to 5gig. I was then alerted via the OneDrive app that I was using more space than I had. Don't quite what time limit I had to remove the excess files though. This might be helpful though...


Anyway, I'm back to my personal subscription as I like to keep my personal and school accounts separate.
