Whats the best way to record sound played on the PC

I am using text to speech with an Australian voice addon to record a warning that can be played before videos I am making.

I tried the Windows 11 built-in Sound Recorder app, but the sound output is extremely low volume. I am not sure if it’s because my default speaker setting is set to my Logitech Headphones.

Anyone know of a sound recorder app that can record what is played in Windows? Free or otherwise.

Alternatively, I think I have an app to increase volume levels for mp3 files, but I’d rather not have to.

Other than the volume(s), the only things you really have to "set" are the things in the RED boxes.
Different versions may have the RED box stuff in different places... but you get the idea.

Start Audacity recording, then start what you want recorded.
When you have what you want, stop Audacity and edit how you like.
You can "cut" any beginning and ending junk afterwards.

I always just set Recording Device to Stereo Mix, if you don’t want a third party program

When they're on the boat coming here from the USA, do they deconstruct their machinery first, before getting on the Ocean Liner?
I’m sure there are companies in Australia that do the same. Like the builders that had to smash rock with a 24 ton hammer to build the driveway. Drove the established neighbours mental over 3 or 4 weeks.
Thank God I decided not to put in a pool.

2 programs I have installed, Audials and Total Recorder, both can record what is heard in the speakers. Total Recorder has a pretty good editing for clipping unwanted sounds. Only problem I've had with Total Recorder was an identification of the source being listened to such as from the Internet on a Lenovo Ideapad Notebook with an AMD Ryzen 5 CPU but no issues on a couple Intel i5 CPUs.

They said they could use a smaller version of that to put in a pool. I opted out. Apparently cutting the sandstone with a machine like that is pretty easy for them.
But due to the shifting in the stone, I envisaged a cracked pool surface. Too much like the Poseidon Adventure for my liking.
