Thanks

I am downloading using "Windows Update." The download just stalls at 0%. After quite some time, I get the message "update failed." I have attached a screen shot. Is there something wrong with the update? If so, it has persisted for quite a while. Why hasn't Microsoft fixed it?

Vast majority of times issue is with users pc not Microsoft, so hiw can they fix something they have no control over?

It is not clear if you are trying to update to 24H2 or do a cumulative update to 24H2 already installed.

Please clarify.

I was trying to do a cumulative update through Windows Update. I just finished a repair/install on Windows and now have the update. The issue was not with my PC, it was with Microsoft.

Are you sure? I could be wrong but that statement makes me think the problem was not a MS problem.

You are wrong. I checked everything I could on my PC, and it was all fine. I still could not get the 24H2 update through Windows Update. No reason was given ... only a short message that said it failed and retry. It's awfully strange that only a reinstall of Windows corrected the problem. So how can you say it is my fault when there were no problems with my PC but Windows Update would not execute properly. This was a MS update issue. Enough ...

Thanks for the advice. I executed a repair/install on Windows using an ISO and all is well now. Windows 24H2 is successfully installed.

Try a Windows 11 In-place upgrade - that way you skip the Windows integrated Update:

If you're replying to me, I didn't say it was your fault. Seeing as you had to do a reinstall (I assume that means a clean install) to get 24H2 to install tells me there was a problem with the Windows install you were using and not a MS problem. If it was a Windows Update problem it would have happened to everyone trying to update.

What is wrong with 24H2, well IMHO the leadership at Microsoft needs to listen to their customers and have someone actually reading the Feedback Hub other than a robot. Also when new features are released, fix the old one first and then give the new features to everyone and not a gradual rollout.

That's MS in general not only confined to 24H2.

Just download it direct from Microsoft and create the install media on a thumb drive. That's what I did.

Anyway, I installed it on a new build, but went back to my 23H2 drive, as 24H2 hoses my NAS. Yeah, I know the issue is part of Microsoft's new security feature, but I shouldn't have to use an unsecure work around to get a modern (NAS WD PR4100) to work. This the workaround I used, and it does work but I also wonder if it presents a huge security risk.
