Wondering where I can download the 23H2 iso now 24H2 has come out please? Also which is the latest version of rufus for burning to usb? I'm wanting to install on a 5th generation laptop so does it need a particular version of rufus for legacy hardware?

You can get the tool to build a 23H2 Windows 11 iso file from uupdump.net:

Any Rufus version will work, but you don't need Rufus to make a USB flash drive from the ISO file. Especially if you are going to make a legacy (MBR only) USB flash drive.

Thanks. I thought I needed Rufus for legacy hardware though? I've just downloaded the recent Rufus and I already have 23H2 iso on another laptop (downloaded from Microsoft last year) but when I go to burn it in Rufus I get this message. So why would my 23H2 iso no longer be any good?

Well weirdly it just installed from my existing usb of 23H2 and I didn't think I'd made that as a legacy one - but I guess I must have done as it installed on a 5th generation laptop no problem. Except it won't find my wifi (but it has found neighbour's wifi!)

I've sent you a link to an ISO on my server that was uploaded for another member a while back. It's from Microsoft pre 24H2. If you need it. It should still work?

I believe this is a Microsoft thing not a RUFUS issue.
I used RUFUS to create this ISO image a few weeks ago without issue

I can't find the link that explains the issue, it had a workaround provided by Microsoft

If you're wiping refurbished PC's, they probably don't have the UEFI BIOS changes which Rufus is warning you about. You can ignore this warning, and continue on.

Some newer PC's have rolled out BIOS updates that disallow the boot code in older Windows ISO, as a security measure. For those PC's, you may be required to use 24H2 or an updated 23H2 ISO. Rufus is performing a public service, by warning you that your older ISO may be blocked.

But for older PC's like what you're salvaging, this isn't a show stopper for getting 23H2 installed. Just bypass Rufus' warning.
