Has anyone ever had this screen appear after logging onto Windows 11?
Working fine night before and today nothing. I'm so ticked off right now.
I can restart into safe mode but don't know how to get normal windows back.
Stupid system displays some text for a nanosecond, then this.
Is my only option to reset?

Thank you everyone! Unfortunately the problem is still there.

I've pressed every key on the keyboard and nothing changes. If I CTRL-ALT-DEL and try to open Task Manager, it opens but behind the white screen. When I try to ALT-TAB between windows, the two windows shown are Task Manager and Microsoft Account which is just a black square. I'm going to try to set up a local account on machine in safe mode to see if problem persists. I've also msconfig and turned off all non-microsoft services as well as start up items with no change.

Does the blurred rectangle in your screenshot show anything or is it just your account information/personal details which have been redacted?
Are you currently in safe mode? Are you having problems returning to normal log in after using safe mode?
Does the problem remain in safe mode?

Bastet ...
Blurred rectangle could contain some text, but it flashes by so fast all I can see is a "D" or "O" ???
I'm able to use the machine in safe mode - currently using my old slow girl (painful but it works).
After using safe mode, I cannot boot normal even after I turned off all start up items that were not MS related.
Safe mode seems to work for the most part.
Thank you!

Easiest way to reach safe mode:
Restart while holding Shift then choose Troubleshoot>Advanced Options>Startup Settings choose 4 (safe mode) or 5 (safe mode with networking).
This can be done from the real log in screen.
Once fixes/checks are completed then restarting the pc will return you to normal mode.
Is the pc stuck in safe mode?
Try booting your machine with Windows 10 installation media
At the Install screen, click on "Repair" on the lower left.
Then Troubleshoot.
Advanced.
Command Prompt with Admin.
Select Command Prompt and type in the following:
bcdedit /deletevalue {default} safeboot
If that gives an error, use:
bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot

Can you record the screen with a mobile phone then try & see what the message says?
Do you have any O & O software installed? Say ShutUP or Systpectr? Any other Remote Desktop software?

I don't have any trouble getting to safe mode - that is the only mode that works. I'm going to record the screen at startup to see if I can capture the message. Brilliant idea - so logical I feel dumb for not thinking of it myself LOL. Will report back later. Thanks!

Interesting ... this is the text verbatim as it appears for a nanosecond just below the blue square in the top left:

Do you want to keep storing your face or
fingerprint data on this PC?
-----------------------------------------------------
Yes, sign in with my face or fingerprint
Keep storing my data so I can sign in to this
PC with Windows Hello or fingerprint
recognition.
-----------------------------------------------------

Now that I have this information, I found this KB from MS >> KB5028763: You are asked to “Choose if you want to keep signing in with your face or fingerprint” - Microsoft Support.

Now I have to figure out how to get it to accept a "no" answer and move on OR remove my fingerprint while in safe mode (hopefully it will eventually appear, but it is still spinning on sign-in options in safe mode :( ). I've been using PIN so long I don't remember what finger I used and no matter which one I swipe, it does nothing when that screen appears.

I'll post a solution if I find one, but would be happy if someone posts a solution also. Thanks!!!

My solution comes as a fluke. When looking at the screenshot in the MS KB article I posted earlier, I figured if I tab, space, tab, tab, enter, I should make it through. Since that did not work, I just got mad and started shift-tabbing which got me into a little window in the lower left of the white graphic that had something about location, on which I was able to click continue.

Then the options to say yes or no showed up and I was able to pick no and then next and voila - I'm back in. I don't understand why the display on this stupid message distorted so badly, but I'm back in and all is working again. If someone else comes across this thread in the future and needs more detail I can try to add more then. Thanks Virginia/Bastet for pointing me in the right direction to record the screen. Without waking me up with a simple solution, I would have never found what I needed. :)
