Why do ISP charges go up by CPI inflation PLUS x% -- real scam

Will be in Beverley E.Yorks -- seems they have decent 5G in that area --KCOM also the main local ISP provider apparently has decent internet as do Vodafone and EE on 5G in that neighbourhood and can connect within 2 days once I have landlord's rental argreement signed sealed and delivered - will be fixed on Wed, Arr tomorrow - glad storm gone - also hopefully no volcano problems !!!!.

Problem solved -- also KCOM seems to have a decent fast Internet service no March increase for new subscribers and doesn't seem to block any of the stuff BT, Virgin, Talk Talk etc seem to do. Alows also month per month for short term visitors -- just what I need for a 3 month gig,

Cheers
jimbo
Be careful - many 5G short term deals savagely cap speeds or only allow full speed for a limited amount of data.

Read the small print carefully (and when I say small print, you could practically write War and Peace on a postage stamp LOL).

Also many rental properties only have fttc and are limited to 80 mbps down. If rental flat does not have full fibre, it would need landlord permission and could be several months to install even if available.

Mind you Beverly does have a great race track to lose all your hard earnt dosh.

Read Rule 7 - discussing politics is not allowed (and I note updated to include veganism - I have a beef with that update😂).

That's called "Monopoly". Many regions from U.K. are mainly populated by Houses 🏚️ - thus, the first ISP who landed a contract for that specific area - rules the local internet. It's not like a city with lots of apartments - where 3x or more ISP - compete for clients "in same building". Wouldn't be surprise - if a political mafia had a saying as well (landing that contract - with the help of a bribe / quite common back in the old days - tho, not much has changed).

That being said... while holding a monopoly "with 0 competition" - this crocked companies also make a habit of offering mediocre services (even bare minimum) - while charging Premium fees (compared to a country - where the internet is not monopolized). Tho, the internet mafia from U.K. took it a step further, as in... there are some regions (for example - Yorkshire), where... even tho - you have multiple ISPs as option (technically) - they all offer the same monthly fees and same not very nice services. As if they all got together and decided - the screw their clients in same way - instead of competing by offering better services (through competition). You'd think it's just one company - with different brands.
