My answer is very sober: full scans of Windows Defender take 2 hours! I wish it took only 3 minutes

With the current 12th generation Intel core, if you bought today, that would be 10th or 11th generation, is that what you mean? It would make sense, as you don't get to absorb the $ peak at its worst.

Yes. I didn't know at the time, but I wound up with a 10th gen i7 when I bought this desktop. My thought was that it would probably be the last one for quite awhile.
I cannot stand laptops, but have a need for one when I travel.
And I cannot stand desktops. I hate being tied down to one single place in one single room.
The declared purpose of WD Full scans is to clean up inactive malware remnants after you have removed malware. You do not run them routinely. Quick scans are sufficient for malware detection & initiating removal.

Oh, my, I'm even worse than that, after the full scan I often do an off-line scan which is not even mentioned in the microsoft docs article. I don't do the scans every day, though, only when I change passwords, check the backups, etc. Perhaps I can do fewer full scans, can't quite imagine not doing them at all

Work (Software Development) and running a few VMs. I rarely play games anymore and when I do, it'll usually be something like Blood or something else from the 90s/early 2000s.
