I contacted Microsoft about an issue with Paint 3d no longer showing in the open with list, not available for assignment by file type, no longer showing as the icon for files created by Paint 3d (.glb files), not opening when I double click on a .glb file, among other paint 3d issues. When I did get in touch with Microsoft on line, they gave me free support and then I gave them my phone number to talk about the issues. After 1 call they escalated the problem to the top tier of support and I had my second call with them today. He wanted to try one thing. Even though Paint 3d had been uninstalled and re-installed 3 times in the last week, he wanted to try uninstalling it and installing an older version of Paint 3d. I don't know the date of the new version that was installed but I assume it was before June 1 2024 (which is when I started seeing everyone complain about this problem and when I first noticed it. As soon as the new install was completed my Paint 3D files showed up with the Paint 3d icon again (like they used to) and they now open in Paint 3D when I double-click on the file. Your just need to install a pre-june version of Paint 3d and your problems will disappear (at least they have for me).
