I was on latest windows version when I disabled the Logon task and was still getting them before disabling. Was tempted to try enabling again to see but don't want to lose new progress in the 2 games if I must disable again. I was getting 20 of those per boot (logon).

20 is the number it always creates. Can you back up your saved games and then try it. I wonder if one of the files you originally deleted was not empty but had your saved game data in. If you have restarted your games it may be worth a bit of testing before you get too far into them.

I started the Logon task. Did a restart and then a hard start and did not see the folders regenerate. I still have my shortcut to the folder and will keep checking it. I played the 2 games for about a minute each and did not see the tmp folders comeback from doing that. If I see them come back I will repost here. I wonder if sneaky windows put them somewhere else though. :)

I wouldn't have thought they would be in that folder, so maybe it was something else caused them to be deleted like cleaning apps or something.
They do not appear every time you restart or boot your computer for some reason.
Personally, if it were me I would try and save the game files, disable task and if the worst happened restore them.

I thought I might let it be and see what happens when I boot tomorrow. Mine seemed to regenerate with every boot. I do not put my computer to sleep, I shut down. That is why I did a restart then a total shut down. I get online twice a day. In the early morning and later afternoon after my nephew has gone to work and those empty temp folders were being created at every logon, so I was getting 40 a day at logon. One set in the morning and one set in the afternoon. It would be interesting to see if they come back. I have saved my games.

I had exactly 400 of them. I deleted them.
Shut down and booted back up. Nothing has returned--yet. I have not disabled anything.

I originally had about 2200 of those tw...tmp folders.
On Win 10 I deleted them but left the logon task enabled.
You can see the date when I originally disabled them in this thread.
Anyway... I just checked, and there are now another 2200-sh tw....tmp folders in there, again.

They are really a pain and add up fast. I really am not having any problems having disabled provisioning tool logon task. Only the two old games but that could have been something else though I doubt it because it did happen to 2 of them and a very short time after disabling the logon task.
