No, I left it enabled. As I said earlier, on my W11 24H2 Pro machines I created a Windows Credential for the local account/password on each of the machines I wanted to connect to.

I too have the issue of not seeing any Network with W11 24H2 after the latest incremental latest update. My other PC's on 23H2 can see each other and use folders etc. But my 24H2 PC can no loner see anything network related.
I'm working my way through the suggestions above .... thanks MS sigh.

Well using a password to sign in on the 24h2 is a step forward, I can now see the other PC's on the network. But even though not use a password is set for all:
  1. All 23H2 PC's can see and access each other.
  2. 2 drives set to share on the 24H2 PC can be seen, but only one can be accessed.
  3. The 24H2 PC can see the other PC's but cannot access the drives on the 23h2 pc's.
  4. View attachment
  5. The errror message code is the same for different PC's

You're using a Microsoft account to login.

I don't like to use that and I won't.

Since Microsoft's last Winblows screw-up I didn't have to.

Understood, sorry if you think I'm hijacking your thread. It's just that we have the same issue you with a Local account and me with a MS account.
I have tried everything apart from the remote desktop suggestion.
What error message do you get, now I have Password access on my PC and my Server with 23h2, I get error 0x80070035 from the PC with 24h2. MS suggest that's possibly related to TCP/Ip-Net Bios being disabled but not so in my case.

Don't sweat it, @britgeezer, I'm not blaming you at all.

Indeed we are kindred spirits.

In a way, I'm glad that more than one person out there is having this problem; no disrespect, but now I know that I'm not hallucinating nor setting up my computer the wrong way.

I'll keep you all informed about the issue.

EDIT: Sorry for not answering your question, I just skimmed past it.

Usually, all my computers don't see the others in the file manager window, and I said all of them, and I had to type out the name. That worked fine until recently when the error of "Can't access due to invalid names" or, in short, "that name doesn't exist in the network, check your spelling and try again." I didn't mind typing out the name, but even that doesn't work now. The error code was "0x80004005."

If you want to revert the tighter security requirements now found in Pro, then there are two registry settings to disable: Microsoft network client: Digitally sign communications (always) and ....(if server agrees).

Didn't work for me, top left was already disabled, top right was not. Upon disabling 24h2 sees no other PC networks but still lots of other devices. I'll put it back to enabled and see what happens. Other suggestions?

I recently clean installed 24H2 Home. Against expectations it had the same restriction as Pro, an account with no password cannot connect to shares on any other PC. Unlike Pro though, there is no gpedit.exe to be able to change this. To allow insecure outgoing connections, open Regedit and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters. Create a new DWORD, name it RequireSecuritySignature and set its value to 0. This value exists in 23H2 Home but was missing in 24H2 Home.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

Since I can no longer even see my network after reverting the settings  I guess I'll try anything, maybe even call MS on Monday.
Meanwhile I wonder if when they issue 24H2 as a general release if two 24H2 PC's will have no Network (Notwork) issues?

Don't know about calling MS on the phone, fully knowing that you'll just talk to a machine.

answers.microsoft.com is just as bad.

IMHO, if MS can't make networking work from the get go, I doubt they will be of any help. Although I will say it won't hurt to ask them.

Bored question: was this build 26100.1742? I know of two other broken features that stopped around .1742, was wondering if it's a larger pattern that MS broke the Servicing Stack.

A new update for W11 24H2 appeared last night (KB5043178) and was installed. The only network change I noticed was I can see my 23H2 PC's again, but I am still denied access with the same 0x80070035 error message.
