Solved Windows 11 Clean install with more than one NVME drives


Maybe I`ll put the other 980 Pro on my X299 and see if 2 Standard NVME controllers show up like that.
Maybe another member with 2 of the same can verify it.
I thought maybe your 250GB was your OS drive, that`s all you really need.
I just upgraded from a 860 Pro 256GB to a 870 Evo 500GB, I wanted to put the 860 away before it showed any wear on it.
I wanted a 860 Pro 512GB, but I waited too long and they are all but extinct now. They were going for only $99.99 at Samsung, but the 870 Evo works great.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder ? No not me, not at all :shush:

@Dru2 when you come back on, look and see how many Samsung NVME Controllers show up for you in Device Manager, you have different size 970`s but that shouldn`t matter.

BTW, I also wanted to ask if you're actually running a 980 on a board that doesn't support PCIe 4? If so, any issues?

I’m running a 980 pro on a PCIe 3. No problems, I bought it for future proofing. It attains a slightly faster benchmark than my 970 Evo plus in the other slot

Yes, the X299 is only Gen 3, no issues.

Compatibility 500GB

980 PRO is backward compatible with PCIe® 3.0. Sequential performances (up to): 3500MB/s for reads, 3400MB/s (500GB) for writes. Random (up to): 690K IOPS (500GB/1TB) for reads, 620K (250/500GB) for writes.

I do have to point out that a 970 EVO Plus is not a 970 Pro or 980 Pro, so I'm not surprised the 980 benches faster, even on a 3.0 port.
