Hello,
So I've done multiple unattended Windows 11/10 installs and never had an issue. I wanted to redo them to add/remove some apps and now when I try to capture the image using dism after sysprep just like I've done before
1. On few drives the progress bar instantly goes to 100% without capturing the image. Same thing happened when I tried making a VHD and capturing it on there.
2. I have a portable SSD and on that one the capture goes way slower than it used to, and then it always fails at 18% with error that I dont have enough space.
I cannot find anything anywhere about this issue, Ive tried different Windows installs, I created new VM's and it still does the same thing and I tried putting scratchdir on either system drive or the removable flash drive/ssd
The VM has 6 cores and 8gb of ram so Im more than sure its plenty.
This is the dism command I use
dism /capture-image /imagefile:C:\install.wim /capturedir:G:\ /scratchdir:G:\ /name:"Name" /description:"description" /compress:maximum /checkintegrity /verify /bootable

One thing that can throw creating a custom install.wim is handling of onedrive protected folders.

I actually clear all local files in onedrive (using free space option for Files on demand, then uninstall onedrive (does not affect online files), and then reinstate it after install.wim is created.

Also, I have found it to be much more reliable to create a custom install.wim from a winpe environment. That way you have not got lots of stuff like AV getting in the way.

I usually boot into the Macrium Reflect boot menu option and then use its command prompt but there are other ways.

Before creating custom install.wim, ot is also a good idea to use chkdsk on source and target drives to clean up NTFS file system as well.

I am confused about your symtax. Normally C would be the capture directory and G would be where you store the install.wim image file.

Have you got it back to front?

I actually did. I have no idea how come I didn't notice that. Hopefully it captures now and my unattended file works since theres the new Windows 11 install enviroment but I might redo the image anyways. Thank you.
