Windows 11 Films & TV App Problem


I tried the suggestion is post #12, no Dice. it did not change back

Nobody said it was going to, especially not me. I don’t think you’re reading the posts properly.

Post 12 only showed you how to repair it. But I suspect there’s nothing wrong with it anyway.

Once again:

Open search Win key + S
Type Media Player
Click to open or Right click to pin to Taskbar or pin to Start Menu


That is your option in Windows, MEDIA PLAYER

If you don’t like Media Player, which in my opinion is a great app (although I don’t use it) then you need to try a 3rd party player.I suggest you do some research on the matter or take up a suggestion that has already been mentioned.

Thinking about that But never relly used it before
Also looking at Media Player. Was avoiding that as hated the old Wndows Media Player.
Only used it for music but it was forever changing my cover
So now use ITunes for music

Like an interface where I can see pictures of all my videos
Trying out Media Player now but it looks messy, as it imported all my videos without asking lol and double copies of some.
Means lots and lots of scrolling & sorting out.

Trying out VLC next if I can figure out how to display a full window with all my videos? As VLC is new to me.

Just double click into the main windows is probably the easiest way.

So you didn’t watch the Video or look up others?

VLC is a great App. Media Player is more like Films & TV. Just because something doesn’t look the way you think it should the very second you open it, only means that you spent no time setting it up, in my opinion.

If you think Media Player is messy or complicated, wait til you try figuring out VLC. It takes time, as does anything, but a lot less time to learn the basic Media Player, compared to the powerful VLC, a lot less time.

And just to point out, I have used both but I don’t use either. So I am not biased. I use PLEX Media Server/Player to play moves from my PC to every room

Tried Windows Media Player..Not a fan

You can uninstall it from your PC.

The App I would be using if I wanted to catalog and view my personal movies would be Media Player that Bree mentions. They are two different apps.

Couldn't get the hang of Vlc.
Media Player is similar to Films and TV
Though in a day and a half still uploading my videos and has yet to sort them out. The downside is all my videos were in folders eg. Videos Family. Slideshows Family. Garden Videos etc. And filled 1 window. So I had to click one heading to find a video. But now I have to scroll through 30 videos that are not showing in a stack now, to get to the one I want. Many pages.
But it seems a good program so far. Just very slow.

It's a learning curve. Media Player has your folders too, just not as the default view. It's Video Library >Video folders. Once you have selected that it will be your default view for next time you open Media Player (or until you select a different view).

Thanks. I was just hoping they were in folders stacks the same. To save scrolling through maybe 50 or 60 to find one title.
Don't know why they have to change things.

Yes, I showed that in post #4. Fortunately I had advanced warning from seeing that in Insider builds. I made sure my main machine had automatic app updates turned off in the Store before updating to 24H2, I now manually update everything else being very careful to leave my old Films & TV untouched.
