  • Fixed an underlying issue causing File Explorer to crash when going to Home for some Insiders in the last few flights.

[Notifications]​

  • We’ve updated the underlying logic for when we suggest turning off notifications for certain apps, so that it requires a longer period of time without engaging with notifications from that app in order to trigger.

[Other]​

  • Fixed an issue where if you opened Settings within Windows Sandbox, it would show a check for Windows updates option even though the Windows update page didn’t show.

Known issues​

[General]​

  • [IMPORTANT NOTE] We are investigating reports that some Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels are stuck on Build 26040 or Build 23620. The investigation is ongoing, however if you are impacted by this and really want to get onto the latest build in the Canary or Dev Channel today – you can download the latest ISO here and do a clean install and opt your device back into flighting in the Canary or Dev Channels.

[Task Manager]​

  • We’re investigating an issue where the colors in the Performance section aren’t displaying correctly in dark mode.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel​

  • The builds we release to the Canary Channel should not be seen as matched to any specific release of Windows and features and experiences included in these builds may never get released as we try out different concepts and get feedback. Features may change over time, be removed, or replaced and never get released beyond Windows Insiders. Some of these features and experiences could show up in future Windows releases when they’re ready.
  • Many features in the Canary Channel are rolled out using Control Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time as we monitor feedback to see how they land before pushing them out to everyone in this channel.
  • Some features in active development we preview with Windows Insiders may not be fully localized and localization will happen over time as features are finalized. As you see issues with localization in your language, please report those issues to us via Feedback Hub.
  • To get off the Canary Channel, a clean install of Windows 11 will be required. As a reminder – Insiders can’t switch to a channel that is receiving builds with lower build numbers without doing a clean installation of Windows 11 due to technical setup requirements.
  • The desktop watermark shown at the lower right corner of the desktop is normal for these pre-release builds.

  • Copilot in Windows* is being rolled out gradually to Windows Insiders across our global markets. Customers in the European Economic Area will be able to download the Copilot in Windows experience as an app from the Microsoft Store.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

They always take a long time to fix problems, unless many more users complain about the same issue. 😝🤬
Still fails with NVIDIA when HDR is enabled.
Even worse today, I had 3 different systems in the multiboot menu, and one disappeared and did not show in bcdedit either.
Had to restore a backup to get back to normal. 😝🤬

As expected, the Recall Preview that was failing in previous Canary build has been removed in build 26241.
I don't see it anymore on any of my machines. 👍

They did not mention that HDR option enabled causes the pink unusable boot menu with 24H2 builds. 😂🤷‍♂️

It's not totally 'unusable' - just very difficult to use. Although my boot menu is squashed into the left half of the screen, the place to click for each OS on the menu hasn't changed. So if you can work out where it should have been had the menu not shrunk, then you can still (just about) select the OS of your choosing (I get it right about 9 times out of 10). 😂 🤷‍♂️

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

Yes, I have installed this update on a QEMUJ/KVM VM TCC 31.01.22 x64 Windows 11 [Version 10.0.26241.5000]

But there is an annoyance that Linux VMs do not encounter. When booting to a different Linux, the PIN on the image somehow gets lost and has to be reset every time. Now, MS has been using one one-time code sent via email, but still—bizarre. It is interesting that the Partizen boot malware runs before I am prompted for the new PIN.

When I bought my refurbished Optiplex with an i7 and 32 GB of RAM - the Basement Beastie - I figured it would either run Pro for Workstations - which the homebrew G3258 it replaced ran - or possibly 11 Professional. It turned out to be the latter - which makes a great deal of sense. After all, 32 GB of RAM and an i7 is severe overkill for standard usage of any SKU of Windows 11. The Basement Beastie has gigabit Ethernet for network connection - and has no problem leveraging it.

After installing 26241, the Windows update menu no longer allows you to receive updates and is frozen seamlessly. Is the anomaly just mine?
