I hate keys! As an amateur Locksmith, in my younger years, I learned that any key type lock could be picked.
Ergo, I built an electronic lock, (no key) for my front door, that is unhackable.

I guess that hatered for keys has carried over to my computers. NO Keys for this old Tech!
And, PAY for a key? Why?

If you have any valid Windows 7 or 8 or 10 key you can use it to install the same type (Home or Pro) Windows 11. If this key is not blocked or has reached its maximum allowed activations, it will also activate Windows, unless you already have a digital license for that computer, so it doesn't matter. If you do have a digital license, you don't even need a key to reinstall Windows 10/11 Just select "I don't have a key" during Setup and then the appropriate type (Home or Pro). Windows should activate automatically once online.

Beware these cheap keys are usually OEM keys (intended to be used with a specific brand such as HP or Dell) or volume license keys (given to companies or organizations). In both cases it is usually a violation of EULA to use them independently at your home PC. In the case of volume keys, they cannot be usually activated online with the standard procedure and you may be given some non-legit instructions to manually activate them or call Microsoft for activation by phone, not really convenient, especially if Microsoft blocks it and require a new key.

I'm not sure you even looked at the promotional. I don't think @z3r010 would have referred us to the same promotional from Elevenforum's affiliate if there were all these issues.

The product key only needs to work once to get the digital license.

Yes, but using an OEM key with a different brand computer or using a volume (company) key at home is a violation of EULA. The key is genuine but its use is considered illegal by Microsoft. Alternatively you can use a Windows 7 or 8 or 8.1 or 10 key. If embedded in BIOS the 8.1 or 10 key is detected by Windows Setup which installs the respective type (Home or Pro) without giving you a choice. The Windows 7 or 8 key is not detected automatically but you can see what it is using ShowKeyPlus or similar utility, write it down and then manually type it at Setup. If you don't already have a digital license for the computer you need a key that has not reached maximum number of activations to activate. If you have a digital license you can use any valid key or the genetic Windows key for Home/Pro to install Windows and it will activate online automatically.

Not since EU allowed it and it is not EU restricted, because the key is free wherever you buy it from.
Only gathering OEM keys outside of EU is illegal. EU sure made it hard for MS, so they gave up on it.

I didn't know this little detail. Hopefully we can upgrade to Windows 12 and activate automatically with our digital license. For a clean installation we hopefully can select "I don't have a key" and activate automatically when online or use any valid Windows 7/8/10/11 key to install and activate. If they put stricter system requirements than Windows 11 and require us to buy a new key, no thanks I'm staying with Windows 11.

They all still work -- have made a load of W11 / W10 VM's and "physical installs" from a Win 8.1 technet key -- and also a load of Office 2010 installs. I find unless you need the collaboration features for "team working" or the very latest in pivot tables for EXCEL 99% of Office 2010 features are more than sufficient IMO for nearly 100% of typical Ms users.

Data queries from the web are still OK plus you can still retrieve data and load into EXCEL 2010 from MySQL / MariaDB databases provided you have a compatible version of an ODBC driver. If you need to query data from HANA (SAP), AZURE etc then OK you'll have to do it via roundabout ways e.g create a CSV file and execute native sql queries - but most typical office people won't usually access those things or if they do they will already have the most appropriate software already.

Important! If you have a Google account, you cannot use Outlook 2010 to send and receive emails. Before you could allow less secure applications to access the mailbox from Security settings, now Google has removed this option. Any workarounds welcome.

I bought two Windows 11 Pro Retail keys for $5.xx Canadian each. Both updated 11 Home to Pro no problem. Also got two 2021 Office Pro Plus licences for around the same price. I had to call MS to activate. Agent asked "Has this licence ever been used before?" I said "No". She then proceeded to activate it. No problems whatsoever!

Can you not create an App Password for it in your Google account? (I think 2FA needs enabling first as the options for that are in the 2FA section).
