There are other options for 2FA that you can do from your PC such as Authy or a Yubi key, but an app password is the only way you will be able to use your Google email with Outlook 2010 and that needs 2FA enabled.I haven't enabled 2FA because I don't want to use my phone for confirmation every time I login to my Google account.
