There are other options for 2FA that you can do from your PC such as Authy or a Yubi key, but an app password is the only way you will be able to use your Google email with Outlook 2010 and that needs 2FA enabled.

Thunderbird email client -- brilliant for those who can't use outlook 2010 with some servers. Runs nicely on Windows too. Of course you could risk those cheap office 2021 or 2019 licenses though - but AYOR.
