Windows 11 pc not seeing Windows 10 shared folder

Hi,
I have three pcs running Win 11, Win 10 and Win 7.
I have a shared folder on the Windows 10 pc (that's been working fine for years) for sharing my files amongst the three pcs.
I recently added the Windows 11 pc, but I can't figure out why it won't connect to the shared folder on the Windows 10 pc.
Been at this computer stuff for 30 years and this one has me genuinely baffled.

Yes, I've been through all the network sharing settings many, many times. Switched between Public and Private.
I can ping the Windows 10 pc from the 11 pc.
If i try to do the \\node02\ I get the error 'not accessible' .
I can access the Win10 pc shared folder from both the Win7 pc and other Win10 laptops.

I've tried resetting the network on the Win11 pc but to no avail.
What am I missing?

Well if it's Win 11 24H2 just create a shortcut to it. Microsoft did this for more security...thanks for locking me out of my network Microsoft.

Starting with version 24H2 of Windows 11 some security settings have been tightened up. In particular, 24H2 by default does not allow insecure guest connections. This means that you are blocked from connecting to another PC from W11, or to a W11 PC from another, with an account that has no password.

You have two options to get round this. The first is connect from W11 using an account on the other PC that has a password. To make it easy to connect you can add a Windows Credential for that other PC with the account name/password to be used. You can do that in Control Panel > Credentials Manager, or you can tick the 'remember' box if you are challenged to provide credentials the first time you connect. This is the approach I generally use.





The other option is to allow the W11 24H2 PC to use insecure connections. How you do that depends on whether it's Home of Pro. Details here:

I think you have probably covered this, but I will mention it anyway. I have recently had a few clients lose basic folder/file sharing after Windows 11 has updated. The updates seem to have caused by the Windows 11 to change network profiles from Private to Public; changing it back has always resolved the issue.

I have only seen this happen a couple of times, so I can't be certain that the problem was been caused by the update - it might just have been a coincidence!
