I just discovered all the online AI tutors for use by students. Anyone yet tried asking the kinds of questions we see on this Board using an online search site?

I've AI'ed a little. Been impressed by some answers, very unimpressed by others. I've figured out it all depends on how a user words his question to the bot as to how applicable the answer is or how much information he gets back. One necessary word left out or used in the wrong context within the question makes all the difference in the world and can send the user out into left field. I might use AI to get a sense of direction in my own research but I'm not ready to be totally dependent on it yet.

We've had threads here where the OP had a particular issue and someone wanted to be helpful and answer the question. The answers they posted were clearly AI generated and would send the thread starter around in circles if he used them as, in some, pertinant info was wrong or omitted. So , yeah, how much help one gets from AI depends completely on the wording of the question it is asked.

IMO for it to be something I would use every day, I'd need to be a bot myself and "speak bot".

It's quite good at writing batch files. If I ask something a little controversial, I normally say "in a hundred words or less and don't equivocate". Other wise it tries to post both sides of any issue.

I find crappy AI just extracts sections from various sources and regurgitates ir in an incoherent fashion, often repeating the inaccuracies of posts particularly if things have changed.

I tested one on a private post to a friend and it totally fecking WOKED everything. I turn off all AI bs as much as I can but I fear I am fighting a losing battle.

The only semi positive use is it helps a dsylexic friend when writing reports but even then it often goes overboard rewriting everything losing context.

A paragraph on its own can be rewritten but how it is structured depends on other paragraphs.

When will people realise AI is NOT and NEVER will be a substitute for HI (Human Intelligence).

ChatGPT has no knowledge after September 2023, so may not be helpful on 24H1 or 24H2 issues.

ChatGPT is very helpful for coding (for me), but, as mentioned, you have to ask questions very carefully and use your own programming skills to direct the AI, provide input/output samples where applicable, provide correct context (framework version, browser engine, language revision, etc.). Even then, there can be quite a lot of back and forth.

For me, ChatGPT is much better at C# than PowerShell. There's probably a long list of reasons why that is so, but chief among them, I think, is that C# is much stricter and better documented.

Some very experienced/skilled programmers may not get much benefit from AI, but I suspect most professionals coders are now using AI in some fashion, such as reducing RSI by having the AI anticipate what you're about to type and doing it for you.

As usual, YMMV.

I have found the same thing. I am not a coder but it’s been fun using it to work out powershell, cmd comands to perform certain things and batch stuff. In short, it’s helping me learn a little.
It has been wrong as much as it’s been right though, which would probably come down to my prompts. But it is also just way off occasionally, even when I am careful. I find (after a bit f searching) that it uses old date for a newer OS sometimes.

And why would you need to use product server command when Rufus creates the USB and you can select to ignore hardware checks?

Yep. The bots here all have different accents, too. But it's those damn British bots with their posh, oh-so-perfect English you have to watch out for....and the Aussies...and the yankees. None of 'em talk right.

No since I used the product server command 2 weeks ago for an upgrade install.
