Has a new windows 11 update removed the safely remove hardware icon? It just started to be missing for me.

I saw this and did this. Was really surprised this was turned off Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media. No one uses my computer but me and I did not turn it off.

Method 1: Enable the Icon in Taskbar Settings
  • Right-click any empty space on your taskbar and select Taskbar settings.
  • Scroll down and expand the Other system tray icons (or Notification area) section.
  • Look for Windows Explorer (Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media) and toggle the switch to On.
  • Check the system tray (bottom-right corner) to see if the icon appears.

The Icon did not disappear on my system after the update but I am using Start 11 which may affect some taskbar behaviours.

Try resetting icons cache to see it helps.

I don't use such a safety removable feature on Windows 11 as all the all removable devices safe to remove without it as long as you did not change the device Properties about Quick removal policy.

Works for me.. 26200.8655. Presumably you've checked it's not in the taskbar tray overflow (the hidden icons menu) - click the ^
