It happens when I call SnagIt on either monitor. The left monitor magnifies what's on it (enough to make it practically useless) and the right monitor turns white.

NTL, it's Display settings and changing them does change the display but not in any way that affects what happens with SnagIt.

- Do you have the latest version of SnagIt?

I was referring to Edwin's choice of capture software, which is ShareX (you asked about alternatives)

The caps key comment was due to the fact you type in caps sometimes. Typing in caps is the universal equivalent to screaming. Aesthetically, IT’S QUITE FRANKLY UNATTRACTIVE AND MESSY, especially when in the middle of a paragraph. But you type however you want to...

Snagit 2023 (v4.4) is the latest version that supports Win 11. And they want over 100 USD$$$ for it.

Snagit is slow, bloated and expensive..., although it has some very unique features, I rarely use it anymore!

ShareX and Greenshot are my go-to's

Screenpresso for other features.

Actually, the last time, I meant it. It was wrong to insert the whole issue of Windows security programs into a thread about screen capture. When I introduced Win security into the thread--as I explained--it was because that's the issue my isp introduced into the problem about my Win11 computer's constant dropping of the Internet.

...no other ideas what could be causing that, I could think of no more obvious reasons than the strange behavior that happens when 1) I pull a window from the laptop to the other monitor and vice-versa; 2) those damn (white) skip-screens pop onto the monitor when you get too close with your cursor to the top.
Despite introducing the Win Security issue (which I now regret doing) into the conversation, I never thought that a piece of software I've so successively used in all sorts of single/double/tri/and quad-monitor situations, and Windows security app situations, would, without a hiccup would be so sensitive to Windows security.

I didn't/don't know what add exclusions is (certainly in a Win Defender context), or what any security program would be doing giving users the option to "add exclusions" to any piece of software.

Oh!!! I just checked and TechSmith is still alive and does still support SnagIt. I would venture to say it probably does work quite well (I followed that company from its inception and it was always a sharp company). Regardless (and this is the reason I contacted Edwin (through a "conversation") this is why I wanted confirmation (which I have still not received) that it works in a Win11 situation.

OK. I showed you how to add snagit to win defender exclusions.

Yes, I mentioned that snagit is still active, but version 9 does not support Windows 11. Snagit 2023 v4.4 does and as I also mentioned, they want over USD$100 for it. Even if you bought it, it doesn’t ensure you wont still have this issue, which is why I gave you other options to try.

FYI

I've been learning ShareX along with @Edwin 's help. The price is right! Freeware! And going through Snagit's website, I'm hard-pressed to find anything that would make me want to pay for Snagit.

Today, for the next 4 hours, they want Explore some powerful software on the TechSmith product page They want $47.24 for it.

You're right. After today. And that's exactly why I was trying to find someone who used it. (Personally, I believe my version, 9.1.3, will work once it's figured out what's wrong with my Win11.)

Seems I'll look into ShareX. Snipping tool certainly is not the answer.

ShareX certainly looks like it's going to take a while to learn.

After downloading ShareX, and being blown away by a screenfull of items having little to do with just taking a screenshot I decided to try

Greenshot.
Greenshot seems to be automatically loaded as a startup app (Task Manager) and even after deleting it from the startup apps, it comes right back.
After deleting it from active apps and immediately going through the whole Win11 / All Apps > / Greenshot new / Greenshot rigamarole it presents the message and never actually enables!

(because I already had my copy of SnagIt [9.1.3]), and because it was able to work so efficiently and flawlessly up through Win10 (and I suspect on Win11 if I can ever sort out IT'S PROBLEMS) I was able to upgrade to SnagIt for less than $30, I sprung for an upgrade to SnagIt 2023.

When I did this originally, I got a SnagIt code number and was able to download the product and install it within minutes...

This time i got 5 EMAILS!!!!! talking about maintenance agreements, having me log into an account and provide a backup email, and making it so difficult to install the G!!D!!! program that I had to contact tech support.

Finally, I was able to download the product and input my "code number"...

The product is so overblown with 'features' that I can't use it as quickly and efficiently as I was able to 9 years ago...

I have no problem with new features--but if that means giving up the ability to do what I've done for years, AS QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY AS I DID THEN, I'll throw the program, and the money, away.

I'm now awaiting tech support to get back to me........................................Monday.
