My PC takes between 60-80 seconds before the Windows logo comes up. I created a Process Monitor logfile and in there were a dozen entries with Result=CANCELLED which had duration of 3 to 17 seconds. The one taking 17.8 seconds was trying to access a file, "C:\Users\Public\AccountPictures\S-1-5-21-3415986207-50523673-2978598619-1001\{F0230BAE-7D60-44C0-B949-B0EF3DE3E0FF}-Image192.jpg" which does not exist. It does exist in "C:\Users\Public\Public AccountPictures\" so there is a mismatch in my system. I clean installed Windows 11 two years ago and have installed all upgrades and that's what's be done to the system. As for the other long duration entries they all exist i the C:\windows\system32\config folder. What's the problem with my system and what can I do to fix it?

I searched the registry for one of the file names and found
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AccountPicture\Users\S-1-5-21-3415986207-50523673-2978598619-1001 so the registry points to the wrong folder. Folder AccountPicture dos not exist in my system, it's called Public AccountPictures.

I suspect that boot is slow because lots of registry files point to locations of files which are no longer valid. Perhaps you have been deleting programs without doing a proper uninstall? I would make a complete image backup with Macrium Reflect (paid) or Hasleo (free) and then run Ccleaner to chech and fix registry errors. Ccleaner will offer to create a restore point and a registry backup but these steps are not needed if you have a complete image of your system.

Here is another filtered copy of the Process Monitor file. Fetching the login picture (of me) takes 37 seconds. The others take 3-5 seconds. Is this normal? Any explanation for this behavior?screen.webp

Just for an FYI but I see the same thing between the Registry entry and the actual \Users folder. Under the Registry entry I have about 10 image files listed. Public\AccountPictures\
So I have to presume this is how the Registry labels them.

I now think I've been concentrating on the wrong thing. If I look at the ProcMon listing then the item with the longest duration is taking 40 seconds but in the Time of Day column it takes no more than 7 seconds so what duration means is unclear, at least to me. The unfiltered ProcMon log contains 6.7 million events so the answer to the slow boot must be somewhere in there. We're talking about the needle in the haystack.
I ticked the fast startup box but the boot still took 70 seconds and when I checked the settings the box was unticked.

I guess the diffrence is, that some actions can be preformed at the same time, and then the reported time for a task.
So if two task start in the same second, one can finish in 2 seconds the other in 40sec. However the start time is Time of Day.

Why are your results Cancelled?

My PC takes between 60-80 seconds before the Windows logo comes up.
Are we talking about the Windows Login screen of what logo?
I think if you have procmon setup in startup, it only starts when windows windows login is ready, and that is after windows logo.
So it you think you log entries with procmon before that part it might not show up.

Can you make a video with Phone, with how you boot up, from bios to window login. That might help to figure out some things.

I tried to find out when ProcMon starts logging and clocked the different things when rebooting:

PC Beep: 12:07:20
ASUS logo: 12:07:23
Win login screen: 12:08:31

BIOS takes 9 seconds
ProcMon first log file entry is at 12:07:28

This means that ProcMon starts logging as soon as BIOS has finsihed.

Your timer, 100% sync up to the second compaired with your pc?
What do you see, between asus log en login screen? The Blue windows logo with the circle? and it stays spinning for long time.

What did you do to start procmon as early as possible? Want to test this as well. (see edit)
Edit: tested here: from bios: ‏‎16:12:24 to when procmon starts at 16:12:31, windows login at 16:39.
Tested it with taskschedule, at system startup, highest priveleges, run whenether user is logged on or not.
with arguments: /BackingFile C:\Users\USER\Desktop\Logfile.PML /quiet

Fot me it sounds almost like a driver loading error, or profile service is restarting a few times.
Have you looked at eventvwr -> Windows Logs -> System, to see if it has any errors during startup?

The Result Cancelled short for. An I/O request was cancelled.
