Windows 11 takes long to boot

Did you run the checkdisk?
Yes, probably several times.
Running ProcMon with boot logging I got 6,728,578 events in 80 seconds and of those there were 794,313 NAME NOT FOUND which is 11%. This cannot be normal or is it?

Just did a retest, as i deleted the old bootlog.
2,802,057 events on fresh install. (only 2 apps installed)
414.508events with NAME NOT FOUND, 14%

Care to share you procmon log? Can upload it here: MediaFire
If you don't want to post it publicly, you can send a pm with the link.

When logging in Win 24H2 , with password/pincode , reboot takes less then 20 seconds .
When logging without password/pincode , reboot takes about 70 seconds !! :(

In 23H2 always less then 20 seconds ( password/no password !)

Any idea ??
So, Im using a pincode to make my boottime shorter !
HOW (??) to make my boottime shorter , without password/pincode , just as it was in 23H2 ...........????

Can you do a Clean boot, without non-microsoft services, and with no Startup applications. And see if startup is fast again:

Here is how you can do that:

At the bottom of the page, is writen how to restore your settings onces you have tested it.

This way you can exclude any other non microsoft applications/services that might be interfering with normal startup.

When logging without password/pincode , reboot takes about 70 seconds !!
How do you then login? Fingerprint? Face recognition? Or totally no password setup? Or a setup with autologin feature?

used no password/login , then the upgrade . ( never used password in 23H2 )
boottime too long , solved (?) by password/pincode , made my boottime much shorter.
but ( HOW to get my short boottime back , the way it was in 23H2 , WITHOUT password/pincode ????

Yes and it spans only 70 seconds of boot.
I disabled all non-Microsoft services and all startup programs and rebooted - still 70 seconds. No change!
During boot the disc indicator LED is on steadily all the time, no flicker like normal disc activity. That has made me suspect that the "system" checks the SSD disc or possibly some other disc or hardware before beginning the actual boot. I may wrong but what else could it be? Did you find anything suspicous in the boot log?

My boot was up to four minutes so I bit the bullet and did a clean install. A lot of that time was Webroot anti-virus and Everything from Voidtools.

It now takes 32 seconds before the taskbar appears and this includes logging in with a fingerprint.

I filtered the bootlog with Process name = LogonUI.exe and the first occurrence is at 12:08:23 and the last is at 12:09:23. It looks to me as if the logon process is occupied for a whole 50 seconds. Isn't that weird?

I added up all the Duration values for LogonUI.exe and was 46.99 seconds.

This login without pass/pin ended up in a roll-back , missed some installed programs, Open- Shell did not started after login , still a very looong (!!) boottime ..........
WHY( ??) still not a working solution !!??

btw ; upgraded from 23H2 , without pass/pin, bootted in 20 seconds .
in 24H2 only boots in this 20 seconds WITH PASS/PIN !
No pass/pin does not work correctly ( long boottime , lost Open-Shell )

@pietcorus2 do a full backup and then try a clean install to see if this cures the slow boot.

Will do the trick , almost certain ! However will not do , too much work ( software , email, etc, etc )
Using pass/pin is much safer anyway !
Though , never used in previous 23H2 , will keep searching for an easier way ............

Guys, try running in the below sequence:

chkdsk C: /f /r /x (with reboot)
Disk Cleanup (from Windows Search, tick Cleanup System Files)
Wise Care 365 Free (turn On System Protection in Win Settings; tick WC Settings-Cleaner-Backup Registry, General-Boot Booster)
DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /RestoreHealth (in Cmd Adm)
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase
sfc /scannow
Device Manager (check for broken devices & drivers)
Services (check for non-system autostarted services)
Autoruns (as Adm, delete old & uncheck unneeded boot startup options in Logon tab, look for obsolete entries in other tabs)
Process Explorer (as Adm, upon logon check running apps, add Tray icons in Options for visual system control)
