Solved Windows 11 Taskbar Missing - spinning wheel

Yeah the taskbar has already come back - this was last night after the reboot to Safe mode and then reboot to normal - so it has been running fine today
I thought it only worked in safe mode. I need to keep up... nice 🙏

Yeah sorry - i know it is hard when there are too any posts - i also know its a bugger when people do not report back what they have and have not followed up on - balancing act !

Anyway - NADA on the Dell updates - just going to run their test and then onto the WIndows Update fixes you listed.

I suspect there could be an issue with the Nvidia and as the unit is under extended warranty may get them out to replace the Mobo

WIll continue reporting back

I am not sure it would be a motherboard issue. I would consider making the Device Manager thread,

Yeah not sure either but have escalated to Dell as it is under warranty - they have just done a Remote Assist and acknowledged there is an issue with the card and are arranging a tech and replacement motherboard. In the meantime i will keep the Nvidia disabled and work through the Windows updates in the other thread.

Thanks for all your help - will mark this one as solved and fingers crossed it does not come back again !

Yep pay enough for the extended warranty may as well take advantage of it.

WIll report back once the board is swapped - but at this stage with the Nvidia Disabled it appears to be playing OK

OK back again - machine has been pretty stable since the replacement motherboard - but it has not fixed the Nvidia onboard issue - but not sure if that is maybe a red herring - i find if i do a restart (apply updates etc) that nearly everytime i do a reboot - i get the same spinning wheel and no taskbar - a 2nd restart seems to resolve.

But there is something more fundamentally wrong i feel - going on a trip soon - so i purchased a portable dual monitor (USB C) setup to be able to work whilst away - i can connect it to my system and it will duplicate the external display from the internal (so i end up with 3 x Duplicates!) - but when i try to run the Display Settings app - the app just hangs and never returns. (THis is with the NVIDIA onboard controller disbaled in DEVMGR).

I thought at first that it may be a machine incompatibility - so i took the display to a client who has an identical (processor) Precision 5540 and it worked perfectly as 3 seperate screens once the Display app was configured.

So there is something wrong somewhere in the guts of windows.

I have just done all Windows Updates that are available so am now on Windows 11 Pro - 22631.4169

I have used Dell Command Update to apply all the Dell updates.

Have jsut performed an SFC /Scannow and a DISM with update options.

Only other thing i can think to do now is to create a new profile and see what happens

Any other suggestions warmly welcomed !.

Will report back once new profile is running

OK created a new user profile and same issue - trying to go into Display Settings is a no go - so the question is how to replace the entire video subsystem in windows to get it to reinstall. ?
