I just learned about the Windows Action Center, and I'm interested because of the feature to clone a VM. Clearly intended for IT professionals, but what the hey. I'm just Joe SixPack end-user.

So I downloaded it OK,and installed but, but I could not log in, because I couldn't enter a successful combination of userID and password. Any advice would be appreciated. I have no problem with using the registry editor, and I'm OK with PowerShell.

Are you referring to "Windows Admin Center", which runs on a Windows Server host?
Windows Admin Center runs in a web browser and manages Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows 11, Windows 10, Azure Local and more through the Windows Admin Center gateway installed on Windows Server or domain-joined Windows 10. The gateway manages servers by using Remote PowerShell and WMI over WinRM. The gateway is included with Windows Admin Center in a single lightweight .msi package that you can download.

This a remote management tool. You're probably not running Server Edition (or the eval), or have another host to remotely manage. So unfortunately, this isn't the right tool for you.

If your goal is to clone existing Hyper-V VM's, there's GitHub scripts out there which can do the job.

Windows Action Center is a part of Windows 11 and does not have to be downloaded.
I don't believe Action Center has the ability to clone a VM?
You can Enable Action Center, using the instructions in the link below. . If you are downloading something from the Microsoft Store, you need to provide your Microsoft Account (email address) and Password.
