Solved Windows Defender not finding all files.

I just downloaded a file using Firefox. Even though I know the file was downloaded from a safe site I decided to do a yest and scan the file with Windows Defender. My Download folder was moved to E:\My Folders\Downloads. Windows Defender is only showing some of my downloads. The File I just downloaded is one of them. Before anyone asks, Yes the file does exist. Anyone know why it's not showing or how I can get the file to show?

When a download is marked as suspicious, Defender "hides" the file so it's no longer visible (protecting you from running it). If you go into Protection History and unblock it, Defender will restore the file to its original place. Otherwise the blocked file is kept in purgatory.

It's a .exe file. Notepad++ to be specific.

If that's the case, Defender did a P*ss Poor job of hiding it. It not only shows when I open my Download folder, I was able to run it and install Notepad++. The only place I don't see it is in Defender.

That's only the files it marks as bad. There isn't a recent history when Defender remembers the last few files it scanned.

If I'm understanding you correctly, I don't see why MS wouldn't let you manually re-scan a file that was just downloaded. But we are talking about a company that doesn't always make sense. I still have one Eset key I can use so I might go ahead and install it on this desktop.
