download build 22621.1.220506-1250. make usb with rufus to bypass hardware requirements, disconnect from the internet, install.

once installed, use the enablement package to update to 23h2

Things seem to be slightly different from the past.

24H2 is available for the Copilot+ laptops (Snapdragon X CPUs).

I installed 26100.712 on an X64 PC as an upgrade over a 22631 build. I'm not an Insider. Windows Update has subsequently taken me to 26100.1457, in multiple updates.

I thought that 26100.560 was available for non-Insiders to download from Microsoft. Aimed at corporate testers. Either my memory has failed me, it has recently been restricted to insiders, or I simply haven't found the right link..

I'm not an Insider. I downloaded 26100.560 from Microsoft, but I could only do that because an Insider helpfully posted a download link here. No use now though, those links are only valid for 24 hours.

If he is going to use an ISO to upgrade from 21H2, it makes more sense to download the current 23H2 ISO and upgrade directly from 21H2 to 23H2 as I described in my earlier post. Why upgrade to 22H2 and then use the 23H2 Enablement Package? I have done it, from 21H2 to 23H2 directly on unsupported computers, it does work if done properly, see my earlier post and relevant threads.

PS: I would not install an Preview version of 24H2. I would rather wait for the standard release in October or November and download the ISO to upgrade directly from 21H2 to 24H2. I don't recommend it though, because they have tighter hardware requirements and the chance to fail is higher. The best is to upgrade to 23H2 first and then make sure his CPU supports SSE4.2 and PopCnt instruction before upgrading from 23H2 to 24H2. Also I have read that 24H2 is UEFI only (aka GPT), the new Windows bootloader doesn't support Legacy BIOS boot (aka MBR). So if he, like me, has a Legacy BIOS installation he must also replace the bootloader with the 23H2 version or he won't be able to boot into Windows again. That's a little more advanced process than using a Rufus patched Windows 11 USB and disconnecting from the internet. Full instructions once I download the standard 24H2 version and attempt it on my own PC.

Clean installation might sound simpler, but unfortunately this is true for a simple office PC with few data to backup and Windows, Office and a 4-5 other applications easy to reinstall. For a typical home PC with hundreds of GB of data to backup and more than 15 applications to reinstall, it sounds like nightmare. In my case, if I had a LOT of free time, it would take me the whole day, maybe two days to complete. With limited free time it would take over a week, no thanks! I prefer upgrading to a new version, not a clean installation.

I have to answer because it is usefull for many people that trying to install in unsupported hardware.
Thanks to your advise first. I finally disconnect from Internet and install 24H2 .iso from DongKnowsTech as an upgrade.
I managed to do so and I took the updates, all was fine but the final cumulative update of 24H2 did not install correctly and crash completely my pc making it unbootable, Of course I have dual boot the windows 10 so no problem, in another partition. I make one partition only for trials.
So I have a new problem now with 24H2 updates. I want to ask if I disconnect the internet again when update install, make the trick finally.

You can try. I would download the specific update from Microsoft Update Catalogue and try to manually install it.

It is a thriller ... After the crush cause the update, clean installation of 24H2 package failed. I did the same as the first time I do not understand the BSOD again. Maybe is some drivers but it is difficult to say which is.

By clean installation you mean format (delete the disk) and do a new installation, right? Resetting Windows is not exactly the same. Better is to format the disk and do a new installation. If you have an unsupported computer l, it is not enough to bypass compatibility check. I suggest to disconnect from the internet until installation is complete and you have login to your account.

Please notice that during the installation I have even the modem closed, in spite of that, BSOD come again. I have managed to install 24H2 version only the first time I tried. After the crush of the updates it is in unbalance again.

What did you do the first time? Try to do exactly the same steps. Also, did you delete ALL partitions on the disk leaving it as unallocated space? Delete all partitions and then click Next to begin. Setup will create any necessary partitions. If you have Fast Boot or Secure Boot enabled try disabling them in BIOS. Also try resetting the TPM module (delete useless data) before installation.

I would still start with 23H2 to begin with. Then upgrade to 24H2 if you want.

This is the end of my effort so far , picture attached. I will stop here, upgrading from windows 10, and wait for the official version of windows 11 24H2. Thanks everyone for the help, my knowledge of software has deepened and expanded.

I'm sorry you didn't succeed. There are good comments here a ways to install. They should have worked but if they didn't work for you then you should wait.

I know that you have already halted attempts to install, but here is the method I have used on about 20 systems so far, with about half of them being technically unsupported by Win 11:

1) Download the latest ISO Image for 24H2 that is publicly available. To the best of my knowledge, this is 26100.1150 available here:

Download Windows Insider Preview ISO

2) Download the update to build 26100.1586 from here (German site, turn on translation). You want to download KB:

KB5041865 Windows 11 24H2 [Manueller Download] 26100.1586 als neues optionales Update [Update] - Deskmodder.de

3) Run the update to manually install the update to 26100.1586. Be aware that this is a very slow update. It took a good long time to install on every system I tried it on. By "long time" I mean 30+ minutes.
