Win 11 23H2, new install from retail USB. I did the 7/28/24 updates but with issues of not getting the right KB files and getting one I didn't want.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say that you are not getting the right KBs, but you could always download what you need manually and just manually install it.

Using the link below you will see all the July 2024 updates for Win 11 23H2. Note that you need the 2 that are dated July 25th.

    The five 8TB drives and three 512GB SSDs are part of a DrivePool using StableBit DrivePool software. The three SSDs are devoted purely to caching for the 8TB drives. All of the important data is stored in triplicate so that I can withstand simultaneous failure of 2 disks.

I haven’t read any complaints. But previews are exactly that. I refer to them as a Beta. You don’t need to install them at all. You’ll most likely get them the 2nd the of the month, which is patch Tuesday

You don't have to install preview updates if you prefer not to. Those are considered "optional" updates. You can simply grad the updates from earlier in the month if you prefer.
