Okay, good. I was wondering if some third party software sneaked in and inundated my system information. The Chinese character appears to be the same one in both places. I wonder what it means. Perhaps someone here who can understand Mandarin can tell me? Or, perhaps it is Cantonese? I wouldn't know.

I'm like 53 Terabytes??? What the... And then I remembered that last 12TB EXOS drive I got last year. Dawgone. If this keeps up I might have to run with U.2.

There's a known bug that has always existed in Windows, where certain byte sequences fools it into thinking the following text is UTF-16 (and not plain ASCII).

Which results in everything being displayed as random Chinese characters. Internally the string is correct, but the display function has no clue it's wrong. MS chooses not to fix it, out of fear the fix could introduce a different text display bug.

That's likely what is going on here. Still, I'm curious as to what the character means in English. I might just learn something new! :) Thanks.

Just being curious. Did you use OEM Configurator to change the Device and Product ID?

Hmm... your characters look different. I wonder if they represent a measurement of some sort.

OEM Configurator is neat little program for anyone that wants to easily change the OEM info on their computer. One can also use it to add a custom picture.

You have 23H2, so you don't have the latest updates. Of course, you may not want 24H2 with the various niggling issues we've seen. :)

23H2 is still being updated, and won't enter EOL until Nov. 2025.

I seriously do not want 24H2 on this unit. I have it on three other units already and that's quite enough. Hopefully those "various niggling issues" will be rectified by the time 23H2 reaches EOL but I'm not holding my breath. Perhaps Windows 12 will be better. Microsoft should make a non-AI version.

I dunno.. I have fun being creative with my OEM info. I remember altering my System Info to read The Republic of Gamers on the gaming rig I built. I don't even remember how I did that now.
