OK, just updated to .900, but nothing has changed. Not that it matters while it's still on the Start right click.

Right. I had the same experience, so I tried the vivetool method on that Winaero page, and my taskbar right-click is now working perfectly.

I subsequently deleted all of the files in C:\vivetool and the folder itself, and the correct taskbar behavior continues.

I use Explorer Patcher for the taskbar right-click menu and many other features.

I used the .reg file, too, and it worked beautifully, but when I booted my computer this morning, the TaskMan had disappeared from the TBar flyout. Tried the .reg file again, but no luck, so I decided to try the vivetool method (link in post #11 above). That worked perfectly, but I'll have to see what tomorrow brings. Fingers crossed.

FWIW, I do none of the popular hacks to make Windows 11 work or act like Windows 10.
Right-Click on the Task Bar and I see two choices, Task Manager and Taskbar Settings.
My Windows 11 Pro is Version 22H2, Build 22621.900
My computer specs are in "My Computers" below.

Yahbut, if you look at all of this thread and the others dealing with version 900, you’ll see that you’re one of the lucky ones. For many, this version just isn’t working as promised by MS.

It is hard to keep with MS but mine changed sometime after the past update. Seems like I lost interest in updates, they come and go, and stuff changes. Guess the employees at MS need busy work.

Yes, I've followed and read the entire thread. I prefaced with FWIW so that those with problems might see my entire specs and setup to see what might be different from theirs. Perhaps problems might result from some of the popular hacks to make W11 look/work like W10. I do none of those and this version is working just fine for me. My experience might be more than just luck.

No argument there. Your experience might be attributable to your cautious, conservative treatment of your systems.

Worth saying, though, that I've used none of the "popular hacks," either. I don't want my 11 to be a mirror of 10. But I DO use a set of @Brink's
registry hacks to make 11 more like mine. That much I'll own up to.

I use all the customizations (Open Shell, Explorer Patcher, 8gadgetpack, Winaero old calculator etc) to make Windows 11 look like earlier Windows (Windows 7 gadgets, Windows Media Center, start button and start menu, Windows 8.1 system icons, Windows 10 taskbar right-click menu and recently Windows 11 21H2 style Task Manager). Never had any issue. If you apply each patch carefully you shouldn't have any issue. I recommend enabling System Restore (disabled by default) and create a restore point before every patch. If you encounter any problems just return to the latest restore point and try again. If the issue persists please post so others know what to avoid.

You listed all the things you do to modify and patch the operating system. I asked a one-line question.

I understand your frustration. I have the same problem in several languages.

Hodgepodge is a careless mixture of things that don’t necessarily go together naturally. A house of cards is a fragile structure that is easily destroyed.

When your system is a hodgepodge house of cards, MS can’t predict what will happen when they change the basic system and you try to merge the new MS system with your own system. If something is broken in the process, it may not be Microsoft’s fault at all.

That’s basically what he’s saying (politely, of course).

I don't worry, I am a Computer Technician and can troubleshoot my own system. I don't need official Microsoft support. Besides my system is unsupported anyway (see 2nd system specs).

I just looked at your forum info and I apologize. You are from Athens and apparently English isn't your primary language. I admire and envy the ability to speak more than one language. I speak only English and often not that well.

I can understand your occupation. I retired early 25 years ago and worked as a Microsoft software developer. The world of computers and software has changed dramatically since then and I have tried to keep pace, but only as an avocation. I'm always in full "learn" mode. Being an active ElevenForum member for the past year has helped immensely. There are many here that are much more knowledgeable than I am.

Got you beat a wee bit, retired in late '94 after 31.5 years and before turning 55. Week later got offered part-time job in computer store/shop, within a month was building computers. The owner made out quite well, she didn't have to pay benefits and didn't have to pay Job Service to find someone and got me over the hump of suddenly no longer having to go work but still having some free time. Following summer moved and got back in to working in shops part-time and as an on-call small business, still doing it but not as much since COVID.

I just checked my wife's laptop and she only has the Taskbar settings. I wish MS would stop this childish A/B testing!
