Solved 24H2 Update


Something wrong with the DHCP client service that is responsible for getting am IP from the router... Could the latest cumulative update be responsible? Check the update list and uninstall anything from 15th January (that was the date the offensive update installed in my computer). Use a tool as suggested above to block it.

I am running Win 11 Enterprise version 23H2 and as yet no update regarding 24H2 is there a reason for this?

I am not sure if Enterprise upgrades automatically. Maybe you should download the ISO and upgrade manually.

You probably mean Installation Assistant (aka Upgrade Assistant., first option on Microsoft's site). Just to remind to other readers, the Installation Assistant works only for Windows 11 compliant computers. It will not allow installation on older computers that don't meet the system requirements (Intel 8th generation Core-i3 CPU or AMD Ryzen 2 CPU, 4GB RAM, UEFI boot mode, TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot). For older systems the only way to upgrade is to use Media Creation Tool to download the ISO (second option), or download the ISO directly (third option) and bypass compatibility checks. For those readers who want to block 24H2 until you are ready, you can download a program called Incontrol from grc.com.
It works better than the built delay control, that only lasts for a short period of time.

Then something in petermik's computer hardware and software makes Windows decide it is not ready for upgrading to 24H2 yet. Some incompatibility? Just download the ISO and run Setup, if the computer is compliant, of course, otherwise you must also bypass compatibility check.

yep mine updated and now shows up as not activated been using it for a year and no problems it was a legal build from new what are my options I have tried activating from my MS account and it does not show up.

If you have a valid genuine license, just call Microsoft to activate by phone. If the phone option doesn't show in Settings, then open a Command Prompt and execute slui.exe 4 to see it.

When upgrading an unsupported computer to 24H2, the old method of deleting or modifying the file appraiserres.dll from Setup cache folder, no longer works. You must either use a patched USB created with latest versions of Rufus and run Setup from there, or mount the ISO and use the Server method. In all cases make sure you are disconnected from the internet. I would also disable any third-party antivirus and antimalware, all startup applications and all non-Microsoft services, just in case something interferes with the installation. All these are discussed at the relevant thread.

I have been unable to upgrade 23H2 to 24H2. I keep getting the error message below. I would really appreciate additional tips. Thanks everyone.

What CPU do you have? Does it support the SSE4.2 instructions set? If yes, try upgrading disconnected from the internet.
