A lot of Realtek updates all of a sudden?

the problem is that the OP has Realtek stuff from WU that is related to audio, not the LAN. and the OP may not need any new Realtek LAN drivers if the HP laptop doesn't use such kind and using a different brand ethernet/LAN adapter.
anything with "Realtek MEDIA", "Realtek SoftwareComponent" and/or "Realtek Device Extension" from WU is all related to the Realtek high definition audio hardware {well that's Microsoft's Windows DCH driver structure/format used by Realtek for you folks}

edit - if Windows update offered something like "Realtek Semiconductor Corp NET", that would be a different Realtek device in which that could either be a Realtek Wifi/WLAN or Realtek ethernet/LAN device

I went to MSI and updated the Driver to the latest release so it should stop.

Hopefully will cure it Josey. back on win 10 once I had a problem with an Intel driver from Intel being replaced by windows update and Intel would try to replace that one and that went on for a while.

I got an AMD processor when I upgarded and a new up to date MB. How come AMD's are only half the cost of Intel's????? My pc man recommended the AMD.

I never use those updates, only Windows updates, not 3rd party. I do those on my own. Less chance for causing issues IMHO

I have 6 Realtek on my system also my Intel at 17 but there are several different Intel things here. 34 Drivers total but my system was bought 4/12/2018. I wouldn't worry about it just let er rip cause they small files really.

I think it's simply a matter of how much they want to charge. I have a desktop and laptop, both with AMD processors and have never had any problems.

Here in the UK Intel chips are almost twice thew price of the AMD equivalent. The pc man told me when I was in his place discussing my new up to date MB, and I said I will probalby have an intel chip in it. He gave me a price, and it halved when I said AMD. £700 x AMD & MB; £1300-1400 Intel with same MB.

That 4-year-old article in no way supports your "half the cost" claim. And your "PC man" may have priced you a twice as much intel product, but that doesn't mean a comparable one to your AMD was in fact twice the cost. Also, online sales don't support your claims.

Again, apples to apples, not oranges to apples.

You are obviously doubting my word. I just picked them out as an example. If you don't believe me thats you're problem. The lad looked up the costs on his pc in the shop and told me. I had no reason to doubt him, as he has been looking after my gear for years. Looking at Ryzen 9 v Intel cost wise, in the USA they are almost identical, intel slightly higher. Butr I am not talking about USA, I am talking about my shop, in my country.

I'm simply looking at comparable prices which don't support your claim... Tom's Hardware article: AMD vs Intel: Which CPUs Are Better in 2022?

If anything, some AMD's prices are higher than a comparable Intel CPU.... AMD vs Intel: which chipmaker does processors better?. Sorry, but your claim simply isn't supported. And I can't say what your "PC man" did to validate such a claim. I only know the actual comparable prices dispute that.
