The MCT is a small file just used to open a Web page at Microsoft and provides the steps/methods of downloading the full .iso file used to burn an 8.2GB DVD+R/DL disc or a choice to start recording an 8GB, 16GB or 32GB USB Thumb drive. After having those what I would do is disconnect the large drive, reconnect the SSD as drive 0, boot the install drive and format the SSD followed by the install. After everything is working I'd reconnect the large drive, wipe it, create a single partition and use it for data storage. My Desktops are that way, my Notebooks don't have a second drive so can't comment on that procedure.

It is better for Marioo to try and fix the clone
I agree, He can boot to the Macrium recovery drive and select "fix boot problems". This has always worked for me but I NEVER clone. I restore an image.

Presumably disk 1 is the cloned ssd.

One way is to allocate a drive letter to disk 1 partition 1 for example letter Z

Letter Z can be allocated to disk 1 partition 1 using any decent 3rd party manger,
or by using diskpart commands.

at administrator command prompt type :

diskpart
(then press enter)
sel dis 1
(then press enter)
sel par 1
(then press enter)
ass letter=z
(then press enter)
exi
(then press enter)
bcdboot H:\windows /s Z:
(then press enter)

with a bit of luck that will fix it.

EDIT : The above will work for most situations, but

peeering closely at diskmgmt window it looks like something else is wrong

partition H is practically empty. How did that happen during a macrium attempted clone?

As it appears there is nothing of any use on the ssd, I would just do the clone with diskgenius. Use OS migration. It is the most reliable tool for the job

Sorry, looks like Macrium has that option only when restoring an image. Fix Boot Problems

Since I don't clone I wasn't aware that it wasn't available in cloning as well.

I would advise yes but SWI2 would advise otherwise. Given the sizes of each drive, unless you are very experienced @ cloning large drives to smaller drives and you have the sort of software you need for resizing partitions to fit your current OS from a larger to a smaller drive I recommend a fresh install to your SSD. Personally, I am not a fan of Macrium and perhaps this is the reason for the difference in approaches to this problem.

Once again I recommend disconnecting the original drive with the original operating system before attempting to install an operating system on your SSD. I am assuming of course that the SSD is the smaller drive. You can re-connect the larger drive after your new installation of Windows. Even better to wait a couple of days to get all your updates and your settings the way you want them on your SSD before reconnecting your old drive.

Also a bit of advice: If you wish you can leave the original drive intact and keep it in a nice cool dry place for in the event that your new drive fails. You can swap it out with the original. This way you can always avoid down time as the result of a failed drive and you will know that you will always have a working backup (sitting on a shelf) for in case of emergency. I did this with my wife's laptop and my three daughters lap tops. They all run SSDs now but the original working hard drives are kept on a shelf for in the event something fails. So far I've only had to do one rescue mission this way and I'm very glad I did this. You don't have to do it but I recommend it.

If you know how to access your drives from Disk Management (just by right clicking on the listed drive and clicking "open") you can then copy all your personal files to wherever you want them. So much the better. You lose nothing. This is a consideration.

If you must have two drives in your device you can get another fresh drive for storage purposes and backup. This is very easy to do.

I hope this helps.

Okay Marioo, work with me here. I understand that we have a language barrier but we can get through this.

First of all, #1 > You do NOT have an operating system on your SSD. Your clone failed and no wonder. You were trying to clone a larger hard drive onto a smaller SSD. Unless you really know what you are doing with partitions this is not possible AND it isn't advisable. Better to start over. Better to make a brand new installation on the SSD.

#2 You want to clean up your SSD?

Sure. No problem. You can do this simply by right clicking on the selected SSD in Disk Manager and selecting "format" and reformat the SSD.
BUT . . .

#3 This is unnecessary because when you start a Windows installation it will do that for you anyway. To make sure your Windows installation goes on the right drive this time first turn off your PC. Then disconnect the 1TB hard drive you are currently using for your operating system. Just unplug your data line going to that hard drive. This way you will not accidentally over write the only working operating system you have.

#4 NEXT Put in your installation DVD or insert your USB stick (with the operating system ISO) into your PC and boot to your BIOS.

#5 SELECT your installation media in your BIOS from your boot menu and boot to it.

#6 If your installation media works correctly Windows will boot up from your media and it will try to install.

At this point the installation media will list all the drives you are able to install to. If it tells you there are no drives then you will also see an error code. Perhaps the drive isn't the correct format OR, perhaps the drive is defective. We do not know.

BUT

Until you can get proper installation media to see the drive you want to run Windows on no one here can help you. There are many good tutorials on how to install Windows on YouTube and here. I recommend finding one in your language of preference before installing and again, please unplug your large hard drive before attempting to install Windows.

I hope this helps.

I own too many laptops: A Dell touch screen with Windows 11 and 6 others (not counting the other four laptops I bought for this household.) Being a PC builder I own many desktop PCs as well. I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.

Now you can see that both drives from ssd are the same disk with two partions which I can not perform anything on the first system drive! In this case I want to delete it to try another download! But I could do it on MY PC"!!! Right??

Wrong. You only have one physical drive with a functional operating system running on your laptop.

no windows osonthis SSD.png

To get Windows on your SSD you must unplug your drive C so your CPU does not see it. Then you can to boot your installation media from your BIOS. Also do not use FAT32 for your format. Select NTFS. If SYSTEM (F:) is part of your SSD partition by all means delete it because it's probably interfering with your fresh installation. I'm thinking SYSTEM (F) is part of your failed clone so get rid of it IF it is on your SSD. You can normally do this when you start your installation. You can format your entire SSD by deleting all the partitions with your installation media, and clicking "NEW". Your installation media should give you this option.

AGAIN. Make sure drive C is disconnected before you do this. Remove drive C from your laptop. I also recommend that you disconnect your laptop from the internet when you do this. This will help prevent any "virtual" drives (like GOOGLE) from interfering with the process.

Marioo

To be honest if your laptop is not Windows 11 ready you probably can still run Windows 11 on it. BUT...

You will likely run into issues eventually. I am typing to you in Windows 11 on a PC right now that is not Windows 11 compliant. It works, but I have also found problems. There are people here in this forum who know this. Nothing can be done to fix those issues. I am just ignoring them. It is your own choice. If you don't want any issues that can't be fixed you are probably better off going back to Windows 10. There are also hacked versions of Windows 11 made to work on non-compliant systems but I am not at liberty to discuss those here.

Caveat emptor
