All of a sudden each browser (I use Brave, Chrome and Edge - each fully up to ate) starting returning page not found for Facebook. At first I checked that FB was not down. It was not. Cleared cookies/cache/restarted/flushed dns/checked HOSTS etc etc, in fact every damn thing you can think of and nothing has fixed this. Went to another room and checked laptop and the same happened there?

I do not seem alone on this though reports are few and far between and often fixed quite simply.

I do NOT get any account block message just page fails to load? Totally flummoxed!

Any geniuses out there who have any ideas on how to correct this and that information would be very much appreciated.

What you get back, when you ping www.facebook.com
It should not look like this, here it is blocked as well on purpose. It should be getting an real ip adress back. Can you show us the result you get?

Copyed from an other site about this issue:

This is a Google Chrome issue. It gets stuck in a loop trying to reach this address: https://www.facebook.com/upgradeaccount/redirect/ but this link doesn't exist.

So here's what you do, but NOTE you will need to sign back into EVERYTHING, not just Facebook:

  • Click CTRL + H (at same time) (Alt + H on Mac). Skip to step 4.
  • If the quick-command from step 1 doesn't work, then click on the 3 stacked vertical dots under the x-out button on the upper right of your Chrome browser.
  • Click on 'history' and then choose 'history' again on the flyout.
  • On the left, click on 'delete my history'.
  • By default, the basic tab should be selected with all 3 options checked for browsing history, cookies, and cached images. If any of these aren't checked, check them.
  • Give it several minutes to clear the data, especially b/c most of you seem to have not done this in a year or more.
  • Once it's done, hard-type in facebook.com. Many of you will notice the last FB address your Chrome browser was stuck on will try to auto-fill: https://www.facebook.com/upgradeaccount/redirect/ BUT MAKE SURE YOU DELETE EVERYTHING AFTER .COM BEFORE HITTING ENTER.
  • You should now be taken to FB's login page and everything should go smoothly from here.

If you can access via your phone data connection but not via your internet connection on multiple devices this is definitely a provider issue. Either DNS or some Peering issue.

TESTER I followed the instructions (though I had already disabled synch in Chrome and always clear all history every day) but repeated all again but to no avail I am afraid.

Definitely odd this.
