Android, Really?

Here in the UK the WIFi calling on My ISP is an included add-on - The way I understand it, originally just for London Underground and included the data used for this for free.

The UK is getting much better connected recently - a lot of buses and trains have free WiFi as do most entertainment Venues and Social locations (Pubs Clubs Etc.), free services are even appearing in city centres

Any WIFi signal can now be used to make calls. All UK and a good selection of International calls are included in the package I use

I have a landline for emergency use - If I ever need to call emergency services the Landline gives them my location immediately, so if I am unable to talk they know where I am - This is possible with a cellular call but much more difficult and slower

What is interesting is that your landline phone can become a mobile one with your laptop wherever there is WiFi. At home (with WiFi or Ethernet) your Android apps can have a 15" screen (on your laptop) or 32" (on your desktop) with a tactile keyboard and physical mouse. On top of Android-like touch screen input if you have it.

WhatsApp has built-in end-to-end encryption, which is more secure than email for which encryption is so complex to set up (for both ends) that virtually nobody uses it.

IMHO, W11 is superior for running sophisticated apps, and is more feature rich in case of simpler apps, but Android is much easier-to-use for day-to-day computing, and we can expect synergy.

Of course, the feature sets of WSA and the Android apps running on it will have to be developed over time. Worth monitoring, I like the prospects.
