Anyone using Hasleo Backup Suite Free vs Acronis, Macrium, or Iperius Backup?

No you did not.

First link is about crashplan app and the other just talks about VSS.
Years ago yes it was the right thing to do was backup outside of windows but those days are over.
This is 2024 not 2000.
Guess some people just like living in the past.

All you had to do was follow the external links in that article. Then you would have easily found this: Shadow Copies and Shadow Copy Sets - Win32 apps

Still does not say anything that would apply to a home system.

I hope you know another thing about imaging outside windows is you are most likely backing up gigs of data you do not need to.

See my post #20. The bootable Rescue Media of Acronis True Image has an option in its GUI to specify file/folder exclusions with (optional) wildcards. Also see post #28. The bootable Rescue Media of Macrium Reflect X still does not have such an option in its GUI.

See above. There simply is no need to futz around with the registry, at least not when you use the bootable Rescue Media of Acronis True Image to create system images that have exclusions.
