So today while doing my quarterly PC dusting maintenance, I decide to install my old SoundBlaster ZxR card, and daughterboard. Since I run my DAC though USB, and everything runs through it I don't need a soundcard. However, the MB soundcard has always be active.
Anyway, curious to see how the old card performs, and whether the "
Sound Blaster Command software" would install / run under Windows 11 (someone posted it wouldn't, but I can't find the post.) BTW, when you visit Creative's forums for the software download, though there is a Windows 11 option for the card's driver, you'll need to
choose "Windows 10" to get the command software.
After installing the cards, I was able to install the "Windows 10" version of the Command software without issue, and all appears to be in working worder :)
Listening to music through my headphones directly plugged into the soundcard sounds great without any distortion or harshness. And, since my DAC also supports optical digital input, I'm able to connect from DAC to the daughterboard, and no issues there. When running though the DAC from card I use "Direct Mode to get the cleanest sound possible. Happy to say no issues there :)
Also has support for DTS, though I can't test it as I don't have the hardware to do so.
Also has a profile mode for various games and listening environments...
All and all, all is good so I'll keep the cards installed :)
