Solved AUDIRVĀNA (and other audio related chitchat)


Pickup up some new Miles Davis CDs. These are premium recordings done by Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs (Mo-Fi) - a recording engineering company that's been around since 1977 and known for their premium sound recordings on both vinyl and CD. Many of their recording, especially their vinyl, are highly sort after and have become collector's items. The distinguishing mark of Mo-Fi's media is the strip at the top their recordings.

These here are also limited numbered (Some to 3,000) hybrid SACD editions. Hybrid in that they will play on any standard CD player since they have two audio layers - a multichannel layer and a standard Redbook stereo layer. Non-SACD players will simply play the stereo layer. Regardless of layer, the sound is premium. The packaging is exquisite as there are replicas of mini-LPs. With that they're cheap - $29.99.

BTW, this is a 1991 (out of print) non SACD Mo-FI edition of Santana's Abraxas. It can also be had in the limited SACD edition.

I have my turntable hooked up to my computer now. It sounds great, though I'm thinking about switching my Polk soundbar hooked up to my computer with my Bose soundbar solo that's in the bedroom. I'm also thinking about upgrading cartridge to a higher-quality one.

Hooking my turntable up to my computer was pretty simple except it wouldn't play sound at first. Looking on the Internet for the fix was pretty much useless. I had to go into the sound settings and select "Listen to this device":

It seems like common sense, but there was nothing on this on the Web. I guess they just assume people know to do this?

Anyway, I'm pleased with everything. It sounds great. I just might upgrade the cartridge.
