Anyway, I have a birthday coming up in two weeks and always buy myself an expensive toy. In fact, I save for it. For consideration are...

TV - 55'' Samsung S95 OLED - My current TV is 12 years old, and is starting to dim, so this maybe it by default, but....

Headphones - Sennheiser HD800S - I've been contemplating on getting these for two years now. Could have had them last year.

Headphone amp - Denafrips Artamis HPA - I've been lusting after this bad boy since I laid eyes on it last year. And in fact, it's said to be a perfect match for the Sennheiser 800S. However, I can only get one at a time, so... I've also been lusting after their R2R Ladder DAC in the Pontis II (or the more expensive Venus II) for a year now. But that will come after the Artamis.

I'd have to go with the headphones. I don't watch TV, so no need for a massive TV. I'd get those before the Artamis HPA. But that's just me.

Being I have the Sennheiser HD700 phones, the Artamis, would have come before the 800S.

That said, I decided on a TV, though an equally impressive but less expensive model in the Neo QLED Q90C. And it supports gaming.

This the TV (mine is 55-inch. Also got it on sale for less than $1400 bucks)...

This ended up being more of a "better make the move now" as I was in that "any day now this TV is going to stop working" window. I do watch a lot of TV, and especially sports, so for me, I can't be without a TV. At the end of the day, this TV far better than what I had

Anyway, I'm still planning on getting the Artamis, and 800S headphones, but that'll now have to be later in the year. I'm retired and retired, so I might as well reap the benefits of that.

I just watched The Fast and Furious X on Amazon and the picture quality there was outstanding (though I thought the movie itself was over the top ridiculous).

TV also supports the Plex app so I'm able to stream my music to it, and into the connected Bose soundbar. Perfect.

Yeah, I'm very happy with this T.V.

Got my Sennheiser HD800S cans. They've now retired my Sennheiser HD700 cans as they make those sound pedestrian.

Listening to these Mo-Fi releases brings these recording to like with plenty of depth and range. Can't wait to see what they sound like when I order a new headphone amp.

I buy my wife of 40 years stuff all the time. I just don't post about it. I also have children and grandchildren and they get stuff as well, but I only post about my toys

I don't remember the album, but I have one where Miles Davis plays organ on one of his tunes. I'll have to look to see which one it is. Nothing major though but was somewhat surprising. It just goes to show how talented Miles's was.

Anyway, I like the sound of the organ as well.

Saw a Miles Davis album in the record shop the other day..., black and white cover of some sort, I seemed to recall you having it on the CD pack you bought. Buddy wanted $250 bucks for the album! Used!
Should've snapped a pic of it!

I went to see Miles Davis in 1988. I went to two concerts over two nights in Sydney, then I flew to Adelaide to see a third & forth.

I have to say, I admire the dedication to achieve good sound in here. I especially admire the new headphones @Dru bought. Me, I like headphones but prefer the sound throughout the house. Seriously thinking of setting up/attaching speakers at the other end of the house, but I am waiting to go full psycho on some spending (like Dru)

Miles Davis...

Even though I've had some Miles Davis for years, I never really paid attention to his stuff until about 2 years ago. I originally started out with 17 of his albums. In the last 3 years I've bought 18 more. He's opened my eyes to the point that I've become very critical to what I hear now - the music needs to be fresh and creative, no matter what it is. It can't be the same ole same ole.

Headphones...

I really got into headphones once I took down my living setup and built a system around my PC. I love the intimacy of headphones and how you can hear the fine details of things.

I don't walk around the house listening to headphones, I sit and enjoy. If I'm going to be walking around, I play through speakers. Anyway, those Sennheiser HD800S phones are worth every penny as they are excellent and very detailed. I'm hearing notes with those that I've not heard with my Senn HD700 phones. And though they aren't bass monsters (neither were my Sennheiser HD700), they do have good bass as it's not a false or pumped up.

Now I just need to get a better headphone amp and I'll be set
