AWCC keeps asking to update

I have an Alienware Aurora R13

One of the programs is AWCC (alienware control center) It allows the led on the desktop to change colors and a bunch of other stuff I don't use.

I finally got the AWCC working and it's been fine for months. However the last couple days when I start the computer up it is asking to update AWCC. I keep saying no because this program is a nightmare to get to work properly and now I have it working I don't want to change anything.

My question is, does anyone know how to stop the program from asking me to update.

I found one possible solution here

(Awcc - Windows 10 Help Forums.)

but am a bit scared to try it on my computer seeing as it's a different windows version (windows 11 not windows 10) and not knowing exactly what awcc.service does.

I would appreciate any info or help in figuring out how to stop the popup to update from showing up.

I have all notifications for the program turned off but still get the popup. The popup is a windows popup not a browser popup and the popup is from Dell and AWCC. Looking at the above link it appears that awcc.service is the likely cause of the popup but since the thread is fairly old and again on a different version of windows I am a bit scared of trying it without some confirmation or info that is a bit more up to date. Dell is no real help with this as they seem to be blind to the fact that AWCC is full of bugs and doesn't work more often that it works.

If it's a Dell notification it's probably coming from Dell Support Assist. You can uninstall SA or stop it from autostarting using task manager. In left pane click on Startup Apps, find support assist in list and disable it. Dell Command Update is another Dell driver update app but I suggest you keep it . It is very helpful in keeping your drivers and bios updated. Just use it manually from time to time to check for updates. If it shows to be autostarting, disable it as well.

I uninstalled support assist shortly after getting the computer, it was using way too much resources and served no purpose for me. Dell Command Update doesn't seem to exist on my computer anywhere unless it has a new name now in Windows 11. Can't see it mentioned anywhere on Dell pages for my computer so I think it must go by another name maybe the alienware digital delivery service?

You know, you are probably right. I'm not that familiar with Alienware. Check this out. How To Stop Alienware Command Center From Updating In Windows 10 – LiquidSky.com
That is an excellent site which I am bookmarking. Unfortunately none of that seems to apply to my computer (AWCC is not in the scheduler). I think the problem is that AWCC has so many new components to it....AWCC Background Server, AWCC Service and a handful of others. Then there is the Alienware stuff, Alienware Support Assist, ALienware Digital Delivery. Sometimes I wonder if Dell even know what program is doing what because when I contacted Dell Cares they didn't seem to know what program was doing the popups and suggested it was my browser or a windows update.

No no, don't think of it like that. You did help. You have no way of knowing what I have already done or checked. Just because it didn't work for me doesn't mean that someone else finding this thread will look at your help and it work for them. Any comments, info, suggestions are ALWAYS a help. I went through everything you suggested and double checked, so in that sense it was definitely a help even if it didn't solve my problem. I actually have the idea that this is not a problem that can be solved. I think there must be a program somewhere running in the background that Dell has hidden that is doing this. Although I am beginning to think it might actually be the Alienware Support Assist Remediation that is doing it as someone from another forum never installed AWCC but is still getting notifications to install it. The only other Dell/Alienware programs in my task manager are the Remediation one and the Digital Delivery Service

I am using a slightly older model than yours, but once I remember having the same issue. For starters, I never update via the actual program (AWCC). Second, if it is asking you to update it's because there is indeed an update for the program. I can suggest something, but I have to ask if you're in the US or Canada. It's vital regarding a link I want to share.

There is an update for it. However it specifically says in the info for the update something like...if you are having problems with your current version then try this one. My current one is working fine and with past experience I know trying to install a new version can take hours to get it to work properly so I don't want it and don't want the popups. But I might just have to live with the popups.

Here is where I go to update my drivers, etc:

It will automatically detect your system along with your service tag (you'll see this on the right). Click on that link, then you will be taken to the Support page for your system. Click on Drivers & Downloads and bookmark that page. This page is what you can use from now on to update any drivers for your particular system, it saves you the hassle of extra steps. Once on that page click on Find drivers (right in blue), it will automatically detect what drivers, programs, etc you have. I also choose Windows 11 under Operating System to make sure. Now you will see a list of programs, drivers, etc to update. Choose Alienware Command Center Application - Full Installer and Download it to your Desktop. Then install it and once it's done restart your computer. You should, hopefully, no longer get that popup. Let me know if it works.
