On piece of software I need to have in Win 11 is the old Microsoft Money 2005. Can anyone confirm it will run in Win 11?

I suppose it's just because I'm old, and very old school in my use of a PC, but, if I'm going to upgrade my PC from an old OS to a newer one, I won't do it on the same hard drive (or SSD).
I just disconnect and Retire the old drive with the old OS on it, install a new and clean drive (now a days that's an SSD) and then do a clean Install of the new OS, from a USB Flash Drive, prepared by Rufus, to eliminate all the MS BS.

Then if I still want to , or need to, access my old drive, I connect it to my system as a secondary or SLAVE drive, accessible with the F12 Boot Menu.
( I now have three drives, all SSD's, connected to my PC, and each one with a different OS.)
(Win-10/Pro/32, Win-11/Pro/22H2 and Win-11 Optimum Pro/ 64, 24H2 V4.1.)
The newest OS boots up as my default OS. And, JFYI, it's da** FAST! Actually, the fastest version Of Windows I've ever had.
And, I might add, 100% error free! (without any MS updates).

OH, and my Data Files don't enter into the equation, because I keep those on a different drive... Backed up to USB drives, daily or weekly, depending on new additions, or changes.

Cheers Mates!

Based on only my recent experience, if you are or planning to use a Microsoft 365 64 bit subscription, then it might not play well (or work) with a 32 bit app. Is MS Money 2005 32 bit?

Is MS Money 2005 32 bit?
Most likely. An example would be like other Microsoft things such as Office 2010 was the first to be offered as either 32-bit or 64-bit. Money was usually included with Works on OEM computers and discontinued in 2010 in favor of a 'lite' version of Microsoft Office. Also, just because there's no 32-bit version of Win11 doesn't mean 32-bit programs won't work, they install in C:\Program Files (x86) just as on earlier 64-bit versions of Windows, I'm using some on most of my computers such as an old Mahjongg game and WordPerfect 12 and Lotus SmartSuite 9.8.

Thanks guys, it runs fine in Win10 but thought it best to ask before finding out it did not work in 11!
I had never heard of Sunset or Plus versions, some lead a sheltered life. ;-)
My Win 10 is 64bit and Money is working perfectly so should still work on Win 11 64bit :-)

The free 'Lite' version of Office 2010 was called 'Office Starter 2010' consisting of Excel and Word with a few restrictions, in particular there was no support for macros. Starter 2010 was 32-bit, and only ever available on Windows 7 PCs that came bundled with an OEM Office 2010. On first starting Office you had a choice of purchasing a licence, or activating it as Starter 2010.

The OS on my System One started life on an old Windows 7 PC that had Office Starter 2010. It then got the free upgrade to Windows 10 and, after transferring the system to a new PC that was supported for Windows 11, got the upgrade to that too. Office Starter survived all that and still works perfectly - even in 24H2.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

@Berton To clarify my experience. I had a valid version of 2010 Visio PRO I have been using for, well, a few years. I was able to get it reinstalled after the Win7 to 10 upgrade a few years ago. Functioned correctly since. Until now.
I also just recently had the office 365 update network error. In the process of determining the cause of this error I had attempted a 365 repair but instead had to do a 365 reinstall.

My 365 installation was 64 bit. I initially installed Office 365 64 bit in August 2018. No problems with updates or other issues until just recently. Any who, the current 365 64 bit would not re-install. Only the 32 bit would. Then I learned there is a known issue with the current 365 64 bit not installing with certain 32 bit apps. So I uninstalled my 32 bit Visio and then 365 64 bit would install.

Then I noticed VBA would not function. I was already aware of the configurations necessary to get Office products to enable VBA. Looking further I found there was no trace of VBA anywhere on this drive. None. So, I figured VBA must have been uninstalled with I uninstalled Visio.

After another uninstall of 365 and then another reinstall, VBA was again on my pc and functioning. It was a bit of a fustercluck. A few other folks of course had not come across the issue yet. I suppose VBA is not being used much anymore.

On piece of software I need to have in Win 11 is the old Microsoft Money 2005. Can anyone confirm it will run in Win 11?
I have the UK version of Money 2005 running fine on 4 PCs using Windows 11 23H2. I fear the day it doesn't work but will then run it in a VM on an earlier version of Windows.

The UK file version is Money2005-UK-QFE2.exe. I suggest you archive the installation file. Install it as administrator in compatibility mode for Windows XP.

The file is available here:

Agree, my apologies!
I purchased my Office 2010 Pro as a download from, I think a company called 'Software4Students' This came with its own license number and run as administrator. If I remember correctly it was about £50 or less. This program disappeared from their site quite quickly!
