Bios update has bricked computer

also if i get back into the bios i will not be rebooting anything until i get it fix or find out what is wrong. that is the problem rebooting ,not running windows.

I think basically, unless you can reflash the bios to the latest version and unbrick it, then you'd need to send it away for repair - which probably isn't cost effective for that laptop. It's one of the dangers of flashing bios. HP have "Support Assistant" for downloading and installing any bios updates. I've used that before - thankfully it has worked without issue. But upgrading bios is something that can, yes, brick your computer.

It's very frustrating. Not happened to me yet. I had one older netbook that I thought was bricked but it turned out to be faulty ram. I can see you've already changed the ram - and although it sounds obvious, try reseating it and check it's the right ram for the computer (although assume you've already done that).

It's a little difficult to follow everything you have written here. Are you sure the keyboard connection is seated and/or functional? I'm assuming nothing you press allows you to enter the bios?

Not sure if you've seen this but some other people had a similar issue when an HP bios update came through Windows update, apparently.

It's an older thread but it mentions making a recovery usb for the bios. Assume you've already tried that? It seems to mention the the usb has to have a particular name HP Tools.

Your laptop appears to have been released in 2019 but may have been sold for a couple of years. Is it still in warranty?

not under warranty had it for awhile and it was a black friday deal i paid under 250 for it but it was my wife's now she is mad at me.

Ooops. Looks like you might be buying a new system for your wife. You can always get the data off the old drive, as you no doubt know.

She should be mad at the automatic BIOS update. My wife and I have had a few automatic BIOS updates on our HP laptops. We were lucky though; the updates went without any problems.

Do you think that bios recovery usb info would help? Or have you tried that already? I noticed it specifically had you label the usb stick a certain way.

So you have - a working charger, a working hard drive . Can retrieve the data from the hard drive. Looks like she'll be wanting a new one. You have put me off wanting to do any bios updates! I also have an HP. Even if they come through windows update. Presumably that was an optional update.

This is a good value equivalent model. There's a better i5 version but it costs £200 more

When it happened to our laptops, we didn't know an update was pending. Things such as BIOS updates should be voluntary and not mandatory.
