Can't upgrade from Windows 11 version 21H2 to version 24H2!

Hello Good People! My laptop is currently running on Windows 11 version 21H2. I have been religiously launching Windows Update in the hope of upgrading to version 24H2 with no success. I also downloaded the ISO file for 24H2 to manually upgrade my laptop only to run into this error message; "We couldn't update the system reserved partition."WinVersion.webp

Hi, welcome.

Try the enablement package to upgrade to 23H2. Get to 24H2 later. It’s not as stable as you may like.

Download it, run it.

If needed, I believe I still have a 23H2 ISO sitting on my server that I upladed for a member.

You haven’t completed your system specs properly for me to check if your Laptop is compatable with a straight forward Windows 24H2 upgrade.

If it is, download and mount the ISO and run setup execetable from file explorer. Disable the internet or at least tell the install process not to check for updates.

If the laptop isn’t compatible, I would suggest Rufus media creation with the 24H2 ISO

Hi, I am on windows 11 and have an update. When I try to update, it says "We couldn’t update the system reserved partition.". What do I do?

UPDATE: I was able to get it to update and to stop showing the error by following the instructions on “We couldn’t update system reserved partition” error installing Windows 10.

  1. At the command prompt, type mountvol y: /s and then hit Enter. This will add the Y: drive letter to access the System Partition.
  2. Switch to the Y drive by typing Y: and press Enter. Then, navigate to the Fonts folder by typing cd EFI\Microsoft\Boot\Fonts. Once there, type del *.* to delete font files. The system may ask you if you are sure to continue, press Y and then Enter to continue.
