Update your Windows 11 PC to version 23H2, or else


Yes, I have kept all "legacy" screensavers including 3D text, 3D flower and marquee. I use marquee to announce the movie I am going to watch for the night to make fun with my wife..."Home Cinema presents...". But why use a lame screensaver when I have Marine Aquarium 3? Everyone that sees that amazing screensaver asks me to install it on their computer. I also like the pendulum and space screensavers from Plus! for Windows XP.

Yes, I used it to keep my son busy when he was two years old and full of energy and mischief. He was excited looking at the colorful fishes on our 50" TV.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

    My SYSTEM FOUR is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device: currently running Win10 Pro, plus Win11 Pro RTM and Insider Dev, Beta, and RP 24H2 as native boot vhdx.

it was several years ago in gnome boxes for some crazy reason i installed Win98SE, i must have been bored.
i had to look up the commands and the spec for the install as i had forgotten some of them.
talk about having a laugh looking at what used to be compared to today, so i think i will leave it in its case.

i honestly cant give any reason why i keep them just like some of the other software i have.
a full set of OSX leopard with a full MS Office DVD for the Mac 2000 and something.

do you know which KB to use to convert 23H2 -> 22H2 without re-installing.

If you really want to go back from 23H2 to 22H2 then you may still be able to uninstall the Enablement Package. 22H2 and 23H2 share a common set of system files, it's only the Enablement package that turns on the dormant features.

If that's unavailable to uninstall, then you can do an in-place upgrade using a 22H2 ISO without loosing anything. Again, you will be allowed to do this upgrade (downgrade?) and keep everything because of the common set of system files.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, and 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro (and all my Hyper-V VMs).

    My SYSTEM FOUR is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device: currently running Win10 Pro, plus Win11 Pro RTM and Insider Dev, Beta, and RP 24H2 as native boot vhdx.

Make sure your 22H2 is updated to November 2023 or more recent.

I would take a full disk backup or clone to a spare disk before upgrading from 22H2 to 23H2. If anything goes wrong or I don't like it, I would just restore from the backup or clone back.
