I use Moneydance. Unless one wants to upgrade to new builds you only have to buy it once. No yearly subscriptions.

As for printing the actual checks it would be Intuit as mentioned or perhaps SAGE [formerly Peachtree] but they do require checks for the purpose, our church uses 8.5x11 sheets that contain the check and 2 tear-off stubs.

Some examples in a .zip file, the Works version will open in LibreOffice.
