Supposedly one can get rid of the new copilot icon on the taskbar by going to settings/personalization/ TaskBar Items. But there is no listing for copilot as suggested in some articles. I have just updated Win 11 to the latest incarnation....so why would this copilot icon not be listed as an option to delete?

First, GPedit is not available on windows home. It is however possible to enable it on Home edition and I did, but it has no effect on the Copilot settings. You wont be able to hide it.
Secondly, I did the manually register changes, but it's the same thing. It makes no difference to the Copilot. Either those who wrote the instructions got it all wrong, or it is simply not possible to get rid of it.

After using the registry patches, make sure you REBOOT, to apply the changes.

I don't have Copilot anywhere on Win 11 Home.
But I didn't have it before the tutorials.

I had long ago, removed Cortana, and I have EDGE blocked in the Bitdefender firewall.
I also used REVO Uninstaller (free) and removed most of the Win 11 junk, that I will never use.

And last but not least, I used Vivetool to kill Copilot...
You can switch the words enable and disable in the commands as desired...

VIVETOOL, and how to use it...

By enabling or disabling certain 8 digit "ID numbers", you can turn Windows 11 features ON or OFF. In many cases, Vivetool is the "only" way to enable/disable certain features. Make sure you use 3rd party backup software, before you start "tweaking" Windows. Official tutorial...

I've seen quite a few topics claiming the regular tutorials, don't remove Copilot, or no longer remove Copilot.
