Solved Create system image

I will use an external drive
Then what free program that will put in the image all OS and all programs? I will do a first image now and a second one in two months. For this second one I will have to first delete the image already in the external drive?
If I have to use the second image. To recover my PC. Then I will have to delete all stored images except the last one no?
Yes that is one way to do this. I believe it is recommended that old images be deleted in Windows Backup. BUT... With Windows Backup (the Windows 7 sort) I have had more success just leaving the original system image intact and keeping the most recent UNLESS I get a prompt asking me to delete older images. In the event that you do attempt to back up from a Windows System Image you will have the opportunity to select from a list which Image you would prefer to back up from. Options are a good thing. :-)

If you use a 3rd party imaging program you can save as many images as the drive will hold. To make it easier for me, I save each image in separate folders. I name the folders with the date I created them. The free program @antspants recommended is a good choice.

I edited my post after reading post #21 from @Scannerman. I never used Windows Backup so I have no clue how it works.
I use both in addition to cloning each of my operating systems. In a way it serves as a three tier backup. Technically Windows Backup should function and should function well. I get about a 50/50 success rate with it. System Restore and File History can also be useful from time-to-time. Utilization of options is generally a good choice.

I stopped using System Restore years ago. I'm going to say that I only had about a 40-45% success rate using it. Just like Windows Backup I never used File History. I have gotten lazy and have only been making Macrium Images. I need to get back into the habit of using my other backup programs. When I was using them I always used separate drives for each program.

I have to admit that there's no external drive shortage at my house. :-)
I'm good internally and externally. Alas, with the majority of these new PC cases coming out these days that could present a problem for most users who prefer newer systems. Multiple internal drives seem to be more old school these days than they used to be.

My newest desktop has no external drive bays and the internal drive bays are in a compartment at the bottom of the case. I can't remember if it holds two drives or three drives. I should know because I just added another 2.5" drive. I miss the external 5 1/4" drive bays.
