Did a couple of registry searches for a couple of forms of Recall, and found nothing of interest. It would have shown up if it were in any of the keys you cited. Mind you, tomorrow, I may back up the registry keys and delete both references to ms:recall, just to see.

i made 1 comment in response to 1 comment. Aside from that, yes I missed the part where you posted code to both AppData and programdata.

If it’s not in any installation location and there is no actual shortcut to the start menu folders, then it is just a placeholder. Just looking into where else it could be stored

Test this: gpedit > Computer Configuration > All Settings > Turn off Microsoft consumer experiences

And reboot. That will disable cloud content. Curious if it will remove placeholders/ads.
I have always disabled majority of the cloud content in GPO and reg. I don’t have the recall placeholder so im curious if it is tied to those features.

I read turning off recall in the settings could also remove the entry. But if one doesn’t have the settings because it isn’t yet available, I made no sense of the suggestion. I am still baffled as to why one user (who like me, hasn’t got the hardware to support recall) can have the entry where as others don’t.

Make that two, OP and I, and there are many more online. It was a widespread little glitch with one of the updates, but like averything MS, some have it and some don't.
