Please tell me how do I get past current people I am working ?
Last engineer who I worked with told them that it's not going to work without 2 Full length X16 slots. That was two weeks ago.
Since I didn't hear from them I wrote to Workstation Sales mgr who is above my sales guy & told her that your own engineer says it wont work. She didn't reply & instead sales guy wrote to me saying he apologizes for not answering for a week he & he has asked the opinion of another senior engineer as to what to do, meaning give me another model with 2 X16 slots OR there is nothing wrong with current configuration. Not in exact words but basically that seemed to be the implication.
That was a week ago & I haven't heard from them.
The Sales manager in charge of workstations keeps asking the sales guy to answer my querry.
So it is kicking can OR like a football situation.
I don't know who is above these two people.
When you purchased from Dell, you could have returned the system within the 30 day return window without any hassle. Now, you are basically at the mercy of Dell wanting to do what's right.
I have taken extreme precautions with everything on record. 15 days after they installed & when 4 engineers couldn't do anything, I told them point blank that I am telling you right now that if you can not give me a new working system or another with 2 X16 slot, then as of today I want my money back so that you will not in future tell me my trial 30 day is over.
I think that has probably pissed them off.
I have every day, date, time, engineers names, arrival date, installation date, everything on record & have sent them all these records by email. If I took legal action, it is a slam dunk case.
Now after this ordeal I have found that there are private companies building & selling almost identical systems like mine new one, starting with 4 & upto 12 Monitors + Exact T-600 cards + Win-11.
I certainly wouldn't wait a week for a reply. One day at the most. Send an email to say that their engineers failed to get the system running correctly multiple times and that you will now only accept a refund as the system is not fit for purpose. Always politely of course. Then send a reminder email every other day until you get a reply.
That's what I would do.
That makes no sense. No manufacturer would cut a PCI slot to hold a card as it creates performance, security, and safety issue. I'm afraid you got bad info there.
I was etching to see where & how they shoved the second card when the box was sitting in my office for 5 days. I didn't want to open it & give them any excuses should something went wrong.
As soon as installation guy came in & opened the box, I told him to open the system side door & WALLA ! There it was in X4 slot with one open end. We both took pictures with our cell phones.
Yes, there are videos on you tube advising to cut one end with caution & they say it works.
I think you haven't read my thread OR read it when you were extremely tired after whole days work or overtime. I have written to them just after 15 days when 4 engineers failed for a new system or money back. I did not wait a day more than 15 days. Where did you read 4 months ? Please quote if I did.
If you still have the same issue, then it is very weird...sounds like only 4 PCIe lanes are in use on the 16x slot when the other PCIe slot is occupied with a card...but then again, you should have same issue on the other card in this case (2 monitors at full resolution and 2 with less pixels).
What if you disconnect everything from the GPU in 16x slot and only use 4 monitors in the 4x slot card? Will all the displays have same resolution, or will 2 displays run at lower resolution?
Then I tried to find out where will they put 2 Full length GPUs & someone told me that probably they will cut one end of X4 slot & put it there & he was right. So they did put 1 GPU in X16 slot & 2nd in X4 slot.

That makes no sense and by the tech guy himself taking a photo says a lot. Why he didn't comment on that is questionable at best, dubious at most. Anyway, if you have the photo can you post here so we may get to the bottom of this.
1) Yes, it is possible to modify a "GPU" to fit in a PCIe X4 slot (cutting a 16X Graphics Card to Size) and make it work. But that's a hack job any reputable vendor would/should avoid.
All that said, is it possible that's what Dell did? Being a company that produces PC's, I supposed they can modify anything, but they also don't make all the parts that go into their PC's so that also hold them to some design limitations where they "can't" modify certain parts or pieces.

It appears Dell is trying to (did?) run out your 30-day return period. I say again, if you paid with a credit card you may have protections where the CC company can help get your money back.
Oddly enough it appears Dell might have mobos with open end X4 slots (click on the pic of one here to see it up close under redxps630's reply). I'm not saying Dell did not hack the OP's mobo to get the same result though. If they did this system should be sent right back for a refund.
