Display 1 goes black randomly

My GPU is the AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB GDDR5. I have 3 monitors connected. 2 are the same exact monitor. ( 27" AOC). I don't have issues with one of them, just the main Display. . . There are no driver/software updates for my GPU. I already checked. My GPU really isn't running hot. . 104°F. (sorry, once again, I do NOT and never will use Celsius). I just want to know why Display 1 goes black all of a sudden. The only way for me to get it back on is to unplug the cord from the monitor and plug it back in.

The rate was 59.97 or something like that. I changed it to 60Hz on both of them. . . We'll see if that makes any difference. These monitors can go up to 100Hz, but only Display 2 can go up that high, because I don't have the cable that can do that high, so i'm capped at 60 in the list. I'll have to get another cord.

The flaws in cables, connection ports, or the wrong position of graphic cards can either blank or black your screen.

If you can connect your computer to monitor with another form of video port, VGA for example to see if it happens again.

Connect your computer to another monitor or LCD TV to check to see if Windows 11 causing the problem.

So far so good. It hasn't done it since I increased the Refresh Rate

It just done it again

Could an HDMI/DVI adapter be the cause of it, too? I'm having to use one because I don't have an actual HDMI/DP cord

Update: I just ordered a HDMI to DP cable. . It'll be here on the 14th. . .

I had that problem a while back and Googled quite a bit with no luck. I asked advice here and someone suggested to roll back the driver version to previous ones until you find the one that is working correctly for your system. Worked great for me. I had to try a couple earlier version drivers but didn't take maybe a few days and all has been good for quite some while now with my 2 monitors. Wishing you luck.

Thanks! I may have to try that if i can find previous drivers for my card

I'm pretty sure it's a driver issue. I had the exact same problem along with the exact same solution of unplugging the monitor and plugging it back in. I'm running an AMD Radeon Pro WX2100 video card with 3 mini DP outputs and was using two Samsung HD 24" monitors via mini DP to HDMI cables. Only my primary monitor would aperiodically go blank. I tried switching the monitors and cables but still only the primary monitor would be affected. I suspected the monitor power supplies but eliminted that after a switch also. After about 3 succesive driver "updates" the problem just went away all on it's own. Since then I've replaced my 24" Samsung monitors with 32" LG monitors and haven't had any problems after almost a year. I just attributed it to a driver bug.

I checked for driver updates and there are none. . So i'm not really sure what to do, to be honest.

Did you order a Non-bidirectional cable?

Edit: is it display port source to hdmi monitor?

Are those active cables? (do they have a chip?) I don’t believe they are and I am not sure if you’d need them to be due to the monitor and card.

If your video source supports dual-mode DisplayPort (DP++), you can use a passive adapter (your pick above) to send DisplayPort video to a single-link DVI or HDMI monitor. The DP++ video source (if the graphics card display port supports it) performs the conversion instead of the adapter. Source devices that support dual-mode DisplayPort are usually marked with the DP++ logo. If you’re connecting to multiple monitors, you might need an active adapter.

I bought a decent HDMI to HDMI and attached one of these “Active” adapters, but my PC is ancient and my card is a 1660 super. The signal would not reach the monitors unless I used an Active adapter (or cable)

There is also this Active DP to HDMI Cable. The USB is for extra power.

An active DisplayPort adapter converts both single-mode and dual-mode output, so your connected video sources don’t have to support DP++. The adapter performs the conversion from DisplayPort to VGA, DVI or HDMI instead of the source device. Active adapters/converters are ideal for use with graphic cards such as AMD Eyefinity that do not output dual-mode signals.

All DisplayPort to VGA adapters are active. DisplayPort to HDMI and DisplayPort to DVI adapters can be either active or passive. Active DisplayPort adapters have a chip (semiconductor) to boost the performance of that device. If there is no chip, the adapter is considered passive.
Basically, if the adapter includes a little box that houses the conversation chip it is active. If the adapter cable is no bigger than a regular plug, it is most likely passive. It should state ACTIVE on the Amazon sale pages. UANTIN sells Active cables but will cost you an extra $10, and all theirs are USB port powerd as well. Some active DP to HDMI cables need to have an extra bit of power. The small active adapters don’t, not sure why. Possibly due to the cable length?
